We had the good fortune of connecting with PUTRID roaches and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi PUTRID, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over the past six years of operating PUTRIDroaches I have slowly been diminishing my day job work hours and devoting more and more time towards my small business. It has been excellent. I’ve taken a lot of risks financially and now I am able to only work very small part time hours at outside of my art creations. My commissions and art sales are becoming a large portion of my income. It’s been great focusing on what is truly important to me. I know that a “day job” is not what I want!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am thrilled about my metal work. I love the smell of welding and molten metal. I am most proud of my hanging sigil designs. They have been the most successful of all of my merchandise.

It has been a massive journey of self discovery of what I really love to create and my work is honestly ever changing. I create one sort of art for several months and then I get tired of the repetition and I need to try something new!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love visiting Mount Lemmon and camping up there at Mt. Bigelow and Incinerator Ridge. Also exploring on the north side of the Catalina Mountains inside of Peppersauce Cave gives me an immense amount of excitement.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Xerocraft has been a great help for me in getting back involved with creating metal art.
