We had the good fortune of connecting with Rahul Jayaram and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rahul, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
There are multiple factors that inspires me in Photography. Major one being the very fact that you can learn and improve from the past captures. It inspires me to go out with camera and capture the true beauty of nature.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Software Engineer by profession. Photography is my passion. Every weekend I used to go out with my camera to different locations, trying to find a good composition and frame. One main life lesson for me is, if your passion have a louder voice, listen to it and follow the same. For me, a weekend of good photography walks/hikes gives me enough energy and fresh mind to start a busy work week.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. I will be taking my friend to the various State parks and the lakes. Every sunset is unique in Phoenix. He will definitely enjoy the surreal sunsets at different locations on all the 7 days. My favourite sunset locations are Dobbins Lookout, Papago park, ‘A’ Mountain, Superstition Mountains, Saguaro lake, Usery Mountain Park and Fountain Hills. I will be taking him to witness the amazing sunset colours of Arizona.

2. A session of bowling at the AMF on a Friday night is a must to do when your best friend is in town. I love the chicken wings and music at AMF.

3. Saturday night will take him for a stroll through the Tempe downtown enjoying the evening vibes and some drinks.
Scottsdale downtown is also a must visit for some nice pubs.

4. Through out the week, we will do dinners at some of my personal favourite restaurants like Cheese cake factory, Olive Garden, Carrabba’s, PF Chang’s, Oregano’s etc.

5. A walk in Tempe beach park on Sunday evenings will refresh anyone’s mind.

6. Early morning hikes at Camelback mountain and Pima canyon will also be part of the itinerary.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate the shoutout to my mentor Sudhir Shivram, a renowned Wildlife Photographer, whose online tutorials, constant group reviews, discussions helped me improve my photography
