We had the good fortune of connecting with Rajan Jog and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rajan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Since the time of my birth, creative thought processes have always been inculcated in me via the people and life struggles. At that time there was no widespread of social media as of today. People felt inspired by their parents, siblings, relatives, friends and neighbours. Back in the time, I used to write poetries while in college for a short time, I have continued the process in bits and pieces now and then. I wanted to write a novel since that was a novel era, wherein several Indian fictional writers emerged and diffused in every household of India. I drafted a few chapters, however, was unable to complete the entire novel. Hopefully, someday I will be able to complete one. This was while I was entering the professional world back in the 2010s. Although I feel I have reached some point in life where I can be proud of my educational qualifications for a couple of years I felt something is missing. That is how I initiated the process of self-exploration and self-evolution. Abstract Art happened while brainstorming with one of my close friends, with whom I mostly open my life hardships and experiences whenever we meet. My family members and close relatives are successful artists in their respective fields. I have always been inspired by them. My schooling and university education included many subjects wherein we had to design artwork, not abstract of course. I am a biology student, therefore I had to draw anatomy of different organs of frog and human several times during school days. During my pharmacy college education, I had several subjects, which enriched in me several forms of art – microscopic transverse/longitudinal sections of leaf, stem, roots, etc, in addition to the human anatomy. I always wanted to remain in the creative world alongside my professional expertise and career. Particleinthemilkyway (https://www.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a scientist by profession. I have come a long way in life in terms of my career graph. I must say it was a difficult journey. I am the only one in my family or close relatives who have travelled from India to the USA to scavenge the professional opportunity. When I say my close relatives, it comprises of my both paternal and maternal sides and at least includes 50-70 individuals. I am proud to have completed my doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences and am professionally employed as a scientist. It has been a tremendous journey of diligence, struggles and hardship to reach where I am. I would say nothing but patience is key to success. Staying focused and keep trying are my mantras to reach a specific goal in life. If you fail, let not the fear of failing again stop you from trying.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am currently located in North Maryland. I am a mountain person. There are many hiking places near where I reside. Also, I am 1.5 h to Shenandoah National Park, which I would visit with my best friends. National Harbor is another amazing location to spend some time. I cook some amazing Indian cuisine and therefore, we would chill and hang out with lengthy conversations about new ideas (art, self-heal, etc), life, work, and some homemade food when we meet!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family have always supported me. I want to thank one of my close friends for always motivating me.
