We had the good fortune of connecting with Rani Sweis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs so it’s no surprise that I would become one myself. I could’ve started any business that just makes money, but I wanted to build something that I was extremely passionate about. As an entrepreneur, you have the unique opportunity to craft a career around the life you want. I’ve always been super curious about a TON of things. I played 5 different instruments until my parents vowed never to buy me another one. I couldn’t help it. I was an explorer and a creative so it was important that the position I built for myself allowed me to the ability to learn new things on a regular basis. I’ve been an artist since my first Ninja Turtle drawing at the age of two. And although I dabbled in many creative outputs drawing was the one constant so a career in design made the perfect sense. Lastly, I’ve always been obsessed with what makes people tick so building brands based on consumer behavior was the final connection I needed to understand before deciding to launch AtticSalt.

What should our readers know about your business?
AtticSalt is a disruptive branding studio that is hyper-focused in crafting exceptional identities and campaigns for innovative products and organizations. We have a knack for disruption, creating human experiences, and building brands with a cult-like following. One of the most powerful things you can discover in your life is your identity and your purpose. Once you do it just seems like every else just falls into place. That’s what my team and I do on a daily basis.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend is from Chicago so downtown Phoenix would be underwhelming and definitely not on the list (yes, we’ve come a long way PHX but we’re just not there yet). We’d kickoff the week with a day at The Scott Resort pool and drinks at Canal Club. Its truly one of the best remodels I’ve seen for a boutique resort in Arizona. Then we’d travel to all the diverse parts of Arizona, starting with the magical red terrain of Sedona. Dining at Elote and Mariposa are a must. After that we’d continue our path north to Flagstaff for some cooler weather and great brews. Before the trip is over, we’d make a stop of one of nature’s most beautiful creations. The Grand Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Dad. The world could be going up in flames and you would never see this guy sweat. The epitome of “The American Dream,” my Dad migrated to the USA as a teen with pennies in his pocket and turned that into a multimillion dollar investment through persistence and relentless work ethic. He inspires me to believe that anything is possible if you’re willing to work your ass off!
