We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Hidalgo Rains and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca Hidalgo, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I worked hard all of my life and have said to my 2 daughters many times that I am only going to be successful as a parent if I teach you how to not just survive when I’m gone, but to THRIVE when I’m gone. That I have lived an example of how to do this life to its fullest and treat people with kindness along the way. I’m a big believer that we create our realities with our thoughts and how we react to the things that we encounter in this experience called life… They need to believe too and the best way to believe is to see it with their own eyes rather than have faith. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to have faith in your life too and to always have an attitude of gratitude and say your prayers of thanks, which I do nightly… They saw me during the divorce from their father pick up the pieces and put them back together and I’ve thrived since… my prayers include them and that they will do the same when I’m gone.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After nearly 30 years of helping homeowners achieve their goals with respect to Residential Real Estate; I believe one of the biggest things I do differently than so many of my competitors is I am constantly trying to learn about what’s coming next before they do; and I educate my agents, clients, and peers along the way. I am a HUGE believer in “You get what you give” so I am always doing what I can to give back to the people I serve. I do this by hosting (for years) a monthly mastermind meeting in my office with my local peers, where we share best practices with each other to improve, regardless that we all work at different brokerages in town. What is funny is they think I host it for them, but I learn so much in the process myself!!! The best student, I’ve learned, is typically the teacher! I also for the last 3 years have hosted a local podcast (started as a radio show) to give back to my real estate fans and past clients. I started this show to help educate them on the real estate market, and it’s evolved into so much more. I’ve found that I love talking to people, and I love learning new things. While our expertise is still on the health of the housing market, we want to focus on the health and well-being of our listeners as well. More specifically where we reside in our hearts, in our minds, and in our homes. The biggest purchase in life isn’t just a house. It’s where we raise our children, start a new business pray for our loved ones, follow our dreams, it’s even where we listen to our favorite podcast. When we are successful here at home, everything else just falls into place, and we are so grateful for that. Home is where the Grateful Heart is!”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh goodness, there are so many fun things to do in the Phoenix Metro area. Most of the year, we have great weather so I will assume the weather is great and since we have a whole week to explore- I would most likely start with a hike up one of our many mountains to give my guests the lay of the land. Depending on how active they would want to be, I would most likely suggest we go for a paddle down the Salt River as it’s so beautiful to watch the wild horses as you pass them taking water from the shores. Being that we live in the East Valley, I’m sure I would stroll our guests along downtown Chandler and Gilbert to explore the shops and eateries/local taverns as there are so many great spots! Since we have a full week, I’d most likely take them to golf or play pickleball depending on how active they’d want to be. Close by, within 2 hours drive we would be able to take them to see the breathtaking views of Sedona and or Jerome if we went up north or we could head south and visit Bisbee and Tombstone. Along the way to both places, there are so many cute wineries as well to visit, depending on the thirst for alcohol our guests may have. Also depending on the time of year, if it’s more winter months to early spring when it’s a little chilly for water activities, there is usually a ton of spring training games to go to or even outdoor concerts depending on who is in town during our friend’s visit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eCKsCSa9kw&t=214s

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my Shoutout to my Dad. When I was 19 years old, he sucked me into the family business of Real Estate. Now, while I only worked for him for 4 out of my 29 yrs in this business, he definitely framed my career and taught me how to roll up my sleeves and not give up. The answer is always No if you don’t ask! I did definitely learn that from him and use it to this day!
