We had the good fortune of connecting with Recker Eans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Recker, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I feel my business/brand helps the community by bringing us all together. Music is everywhere. That’s one thing everyone has in common, maybe not the genre, but its everywhere. In my case, I love that I can play music and have those moments of happiness and rocking out, but also use my music to raise money and awareness for organizations that I am proud of. (Arizona Burn Foundation, Foster Kids AZ, Anti-bullying and Christmas Angels)

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is my music. I love drumming and performing for people. I think what sets me apart from most is the obvious, haha, being 10 years old. What I am most proud of is being able to use my passion of music to help inspire others, not just musically, but to follow their passions whatever they may be. I love being able to use my talents to help raise money and awareness for organizations like the Arizona Burn Foundation, Anti-Bullying, Foster kids and Salvation Army Christmas Angels. Aside from that I am personally proud of getting to play festivals in front of 20,000 people and the recent worldwide ad for Gap Kids where my band The Twits wrote and produced the anthem for. I got where I am today through hard work and sacrifices for sure, but could not do it without the support of my awesome parents! They help guide, support and manage the craziness, but also know when to give me a break and let me be a kid. They are the best roadie and stylist out there haha. I love my School of Rock, where I go for lessons. The people there are amazing and its like a second home. The owners are why I have my band ‘The Twits’ (they introduced us) and my instructors Etti, Scott and James are not only talented musicians themselves, but I have the best time learning from them and they are always pushing me to be better. I really do have a great support system and couldn’t do all this without them! The biggest lessons I have learned is you have to work hard and be nice! I have had so many amazing opportunities and so many of those come from creating lasting relationships with those around you. So practice, practice, practice and BE NICE! I just want people to know that you can do anything you put your mind to! I hope my love and joy for music and trying to give back more than I take will inspire others to follow their dreams and be happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting me, I would say we would go to KTR for skateboarding and jumping on all the trampolines. We would definitely eat at Chik-Fil-A or In and Out. I really like visiting Northern Arizona where its cooler and wide open, theres hiking and fun place to cliff jump, its a nice change of pace from my sometimes busy schedule. Go to a show at one of our many awesome music venues like the Rebel Lounge or The Van Buren. I have been speaking Chinese for the past 5 1/2 years and that has really opened my eyes to want to travel and learn of other cultures. I am hoping with my music I will be able to do that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The group/organization that really gave me my start would be School of Rock in Gilbert, Arizona. I asked my parents for a drum set for my 5th birthday and luckily my dad drove by one of their locations. After a quick trial lesson, I was hooked and into the program. Those lessons and the guidance of the instructors and owners Megan and Shane have really pushed me to where I am today. My teachers Etti, Scott and James as well as the show directors make it not only fun, but inspiring. Because of School of Rock and the work ethic instilled in me, I am in 2 bands, The Twits and Silence The Voice, have been in multiple worldwide ad campaigns, gained many music endorsements and have been able to inspire others to follow their passions My parents who love and support my passions, whatever they may be. Whether it be music, school or skateboarding we are always saying, do what makes you happy! Thats what life is all about. My band The Twits, we are always writing and doing our best to be creative and inspire the next generation to follow their passions! To my band Silence the Voice, for being accepting of me and just Rocking Out! All of my family, friends, fans and supporters. My School for letting me have time off so I can rock! My Drum/Music endorsements SJC Drums, Soultone Cymbals, Gruv Gear, Tru Tuner, Rooster Thrones, Fender, Vans and Empire Ears
