Meet RED MAMUT ADVENTURE | Adventurous travelers around the world for more than 3 years

We had the good fortune of connecting with RED MAMUT ADVENTURE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi RED MAMUT, how do you think about risk?
To achieve the dreams and projects of life, we have always been clear that there are a series of risks that must be assumed.
In our case, we risk leaving the financial and social stability of our life in Switzerland to attain the dream of living traveling for an indeterminate time to get to know new cultures and societies that will develop us as person.
We have learned that without risk there is no success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are a Spanish couple who started a trip through the American continent with our dog Macarena in January 2019. The adventure of the Mamut (which is the name we gave our Volkswagen 4×4) began in Uruguay. We arrived at the end of the world in Argentina, the most southerly possible place we could drive. From this point we headed north through Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia… and in Peru the Covid 19 pandemic arrived. This forced us to stop for a few months to continue traveling north and with more motivation than ever.
Along the way we learned that the most important thing is not material things but values such as hospitality, friendship and love. Those who had the least were always the ones who gave us the most and made us happier. And above all we learned that in the most difficult moments, when everything gets complicated, the best people always appear.
We would like to convey the idea that dreams can be achieved, and that is why you should never stop fighting to gain them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During our trip we have visited so many places that it is impossible to gather all the wonders in one place. We were amazed at the paradisiacal beaches that we found in Brazil. Access to some of them only on foot to be able to swim with wild dolphins like in Pipa, or see how giant sand dunes go into the sea like in Jericoacoara was very exciting.
The immense vastness and beauty of the Argentine and Chilean Patagonia in Torres del Paine and El Chaltén impressed us so much that we can’t wait to return.
The hospitality and love that we receive from the people in Argentina and Mexico will always be with us in our hearts, as when we were invited to eat at a house on a day as personal and special as the Day of the Dead in Mexico or when due to mechanical problems we had to spend a whole month living with someone who is already part of our family in Salta, Argentina.
And we love trying the typical foods of each country such as the Pupusas from El Salvador, the world-renowned Argentine Asado, Mexico and its extensive variety of tacos, sauces…, the Brazilian picanha, the Chilean “mote” with bone, such peculiar foods like the Cuy (a kind of hamster) in Peru. Because nothing brings you closer to the people of a country than sharing their typical meals with them.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are eternally grateful to all those people who have been part of the adventure with us in a direct way or in the distance. Thank you for being in the good and bad moments of this adventure! Meeting these people is, without a doubt, the best part of the trip.
