We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Lucci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, what role has risk played in your life or career?
With building a business and a brand as an independent artist I feel like you can never progress without taking some type of risk. I honestly find myself scared of facing risks within my career, I don’t like to be in a position where I’ll fail, or feel under prepared. However every time I try to jump into the deep end of a situation, I always come out the other side realizing I could do it. Even if I couldn’t execute a goal perfectly I still manage to take a lesson from the experience. With music, getting to the level I’m at now, I know I wouldn’t be here without taking chances, and betting on myself. Every move I’ve made did come with some type of risk, some I knew I could manage and others I didn’t know how they would play out. I think with risk, taking it on boils down to how well you believe you can navigate the situation after the events play out. Basically, if you feel that regardless of the risk, you can maneuver the situation with some kind of grace and support.

As an artist I know the Music genre is over-saturated with content that’s getting released every day. In this climate now more than ever it’s important to stand out as a musician, especially in a market as small as Arizona’s. With the scene here being predominantly driven by Drill, Trap and West coast Influences, most shows feature the same kind of sounds and performances. I decided to take a different approach, and I focus on making music that is targeting women, and putting out music that has more of a “Artistic” approach to its visuals and branding. As for 2023 the biggest lesson I’ve been able to learn is understanding the importance of building a brand. There’s a lot that goes into building a brand from the ground up. I’ve been surrounded by a strong team that’s helped guide me with building color palettes for my visuals, tightening the types of flows I use which are catchier, and showing me how to improve my stage presence in a way that helps me stand out. With my brand of music, and how I package it, I just hope people can still see the types of emotions I strive to capture in my music. I strive to have every song/project capture an emotion, a vibe. Kiss and Tell was an album which was for the summer, full of love songs, good energies and feel good music. Babylon, my latest project is more of a high energy, aggressive project I made specifically to be like Musical PreWorkout. I’m multifaceted, and creative and I hope that comes through my art every time I release something.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
With my progress as a musician I know I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without the support of my family, and loved ones. I tried for so long to tackle this journey alone, focusing on myself and pushing people away so I could “focus” more. However the second I let those closest to me in, the moves I made accelerated 10 times over. The phrase “it takes a village” has really been showing me how true it really is lately. My parents, siblings, and closest friends really are my backbone. They are the first people I reach out to for all the moves I’m making. If im making music i’m contacting my mom, Alex, Chase and Blanco to get their feedback. I know that music is a consumer based media, so there’s nothing better to do than to send it to consumers of the media for their input. The people in my life know we have a 100% honesty rule, if I am making the wrong plays, making good/bad music we know it’s a safe place to tell me. I know I wouldn’t be here today without them, and I know I wont be able to get any further without them as well.
