We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Mathivanan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sam, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To take the most healthiest indian meal to every househiold in this country
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There’s a preset about Indian restaurants in people mind that it’s ideal only for takeout since it lacks ambience and service and Indian food is spicy which is a great misconception. India had a ton of food culture and depending in which part of the country the same food will have a varied recipe, that how diverese Indian food culture is. Some foods are spicy by its original recipe and when people order not knowing exactly what it is, they end of hating the cuisine all together. At Haldi, we try to understand the customer before taking the order so we cater what their palattes would appreciate. Also, we cook every meal to order to customize an entree as much to possible to accomodate customer choice of protien and spice level. Given the fact that a vast majority of population around the world aren’t favorable to spicy foods, we came up with this concept to adjust the spice levels to accomodate everyone’s spice apetite. When you ask mild, you’ll get mild and thats our drive.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course, he/she has a lot of food options to explore in my restaurant. Beyond that, if we go for a drive then Sedona, Lake pleasant and Grand canyon would be a great experience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
