We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha DiMercurio Magner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My desire to motivate others to improve their cardiovascular health was a main driver in starting my Running Company, coupled with a relocation from city to suburbs and wanting to learn the area and meet fellow runners!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Port Chester Running Club’s goal is to inspire ALL runners to get out and move their body. We continue to promote inclusive running and always will. By hosting bi-weekly in person group runs we offer a free service to a local community to exercise their mind and body.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by brewing a cup of fresh Brainwashed Coffee, head out for a run around town exploring areas along the Long Island Sound. Stop for a pastry at The Kneaded Bread and likely have lunch at Maryann’s on their patio – both in Downtown Port Chester. Dinner would likely be Grigg Street Pizza in Greenwich, Ct. followed by Icecream from Longford’s in Rye, NY. All locally owned small businesses!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Brainwashed Coffee Co. – Founder, Billy Magner, who inspired me by his success and is a constant motivator to try new things! RRCA- Road Runners Club of America – where I learned and certified as a Running Coach
Book – Running: A Love Story by: Jen Miller, ALL runners will laugh and admire the sport in this fun read.
