We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Abrahams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Analyzing and weighing risk is essential as a business owner and a farmer. Not only do you have to evaluate product and make tough decisions, but you’re also expected to produce, whether that be a monetary profit or crop production. As the owner of TeaCo Bio Supply, I grew up in Florida with parents who were florists. This not only set the foundation for the passion I have for botany and self-sustainability, but also brought to the forefront the question of limiting risk and increasing value. Witnessing the toxins and excessive runoff of chemicals used by farmers and gardeners I knew there had to be a more stable, organic way to grow that worked to eliminate risk and pollution to rivers, streams, wildlife, and our own human bodies.

As an adult I moved to Colorado where he developed and owned a chain of hydroponic stores, as well as a farm; and in 2009 TeaCo Bio Supply was born. TeaCo Bio Supply offers a full product line of plant-based soil additives that work to enhance and restore natural soil activity, encourage plant growth, and produce bigger yields. I have since sold the hydro stores and moved to Arizona while maintaining the TeaCo Bio Supply brand as he believes soil additives are the future!

It hasnt been easy but it has been rewarding. Teaching others about soil health verses plant nutrients is a huge undertaking because society and well-known commercial brands have created the mindset that to be a successful at growing any plants requires excessive nutrients, and fertilizers. Whereas in reality the health of any plant starts at the foundation, with healthy soil.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely go hiking and explore the beauty of the Arizona desert. As far as meals, I would prepare simple cuisine utilizing the seasonal crops from my backyard garden, which includes but it not limited to carrots, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, corn, basil, citrus trees, and mulberry bushes,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As previously mentioned, my parents were florists. I  grew up in the greenhouse, learning how to care for and develop a passion for various plant life. I ave caried that knowledge with me throughout my life and career. From building a hemp farm in Colorado to working alongside former WNBA star Bridget Pettis and the Bridget Pettis Foundation to transform dry, desert land in Arizona into a fully operational and sustainable farm.
