Meet Sean Derivan: Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Derivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hard work, dedication and integrity. You have to be there when your competition is at home. Get up early and do what it takes to solve your customer’s problems. It’s not always easy, but that’s what it takes. If you want to win, you have to put in the work!

What should our readers know about your business?
Precision Metal Mfg was started in 2007. We have chosen to remain a modest entity, with the intent to be a small yet quality minded shop. We possess many of the capabilities of the larger shops, just on a smaller scale, and are able to give our customers expert service, with a small shop feel.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born in northern Ohio, and grew up spending my time fishing on Lake Erie and the tributaries surrounding it. So, for me, I always enjoy going to the water and taking a bout tour. The lakes in Arizona are fascinating. Small, but surrounded by beautiful scenery and always a sight for sore eyes. My wife and I always enjoy a good meal. Although we have a few favorites, we enjoy trying new places, and we have a lot to choose from here. There are so many places, we sometimes have a difficult time narrowing our search.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give credit to my wife Lora, who, through the hardships of owning and managing a business, has always been understanding of my time and what it takes to keep a business running. There are many hurdles along the way. It’s rare that we can take a vacation, there’s always something that needs to be done. I would also like to give credit to the employees of my company. The employees are the core of this company. They spend just as much time at work, sometimes more, than they do with their own families. They’re here every day, in the trenches, getting it done. Big thanks for the ones that help move this company forward.
