We had the good fortune of connecting with Serenity Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Serenity, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business began with self reflection, I was forced to face the dangers of how my eating habits and lack of physical activity were translating into the quality of my life. Then, the positive evolution of my health gave me insight on the power of agency and discipline, which allowed me to write my own destiny and come up with my own meaning of what health looks like, which later turned into how can help others do the same.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a certified personal trainer I’ve been lucky to be apart of so many fitness journeys and transformation successes. It’s not so much the outward appearance that amazes me but, the inward growth and significance that builds within the clients I’ve come across; that is what I’m most proud of.. To become a personal trainer, I decided to further my studies in subjects like kinesiology and human anatomy and physiology. Anything worthwhile isn’t easy, so taking time out of my day to further my education took dedication and a continuous daily effort to stay on top of all things health and wellness. To overcome a lot of the stressors I’ve endured, is by looking at the bigger picture and envisioning what kind of person I looked like when the accomplishments I wanted arrived. So, I practiced manifestation and embodied the behaviors, feelings and thoughts constantly of the Serenity I pictured at the end of the accomplishments until I eventually became her.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would consider myself the life of the party. If my best friend was visiting the area I would definitely bring the adventure. I’d start by making dinner plans at my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale called Maple and Ash. From that point, we would have a pajama and wine 🍷 evening while creating vision boards, listening to music, laughing ,playing card games and watching movies. The next day, we would dress up for brunch and head to The Vig or Breakfast Bitch ( yes the place is called breakfast bitch) in downtown Phoenix. We would take tons of selfies and have grapefruit mimosas while eating some of the best steak and eggs and enjoying the ambience and great weather. I’m an adrenaline junkie, so you can count on us heading out to fly a Cessna airplane over the superstition springs mountain for the entire afternoon and landing just in time for happy hour and bowling and lasertag 🎳 at Main event or Skylanes in Scottsdale. The night would end at 2am and we would sleep in and cook breakfast at home and dedicate the day to self care. We would wear hydrating cloth face masks and paint our nails and get professional massages for the entire day. Of course, the next day would include early morning exercise sessions that include hiking followed by hot yoga. Later we would grab lunch at True food kitchen at the Scottsdale quarter followed by shopping 🛍. The last day would be bittersweet as we summarize the trip highlights over breakfast and plan to see each other again.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t go without thanking God first for blessing me with good health and patience. I want to thank my mom, friends and family for always speaking life into me and uplifting me when I need it the most. I want to thank Charles James for listening to my ideas and giving helpful input. I want to thank TLM agency for sharing business skills and knowledge that has allowed me to continually expand as a business.
