Meet sergio Lopez | Architect

We had the good fortune of connecting with sergio Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi sergio, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My story begins back in 2015, when I graduated from UABC, Valle de las Palmas. Shortly after graduation I started working for a construction and design company as a Project coordinator.

During my time with this company, I began learning about the relationship between architect and client; this gave me an injection of major confidence and I knew I was beyond capable of doing more than just the role I was executing at that time.

During a conversation with one of my bosses, regarding certain ideas I had for a project, he told me that I was only hired to fix any problems the company might experience. In that instance, my mentality gave a 360 turn. I could either stay fixing the problems of another company, or I could build my own company and create amazing projects and not only fix them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The road has been a complete rollercoaster. I grew up in Tijuana BC, Mexico. I visited the US many times but never imagined I would be blooming in this country after moving here with my wife. Again a very complicated path, a new country where I was not very familiar, a new language that was not my first language. Communication at the beginning was complicated and unfortunately, people took advantage of that. I`ve experienced clients who never finished paying for my work because of the language barrier and who criticized me for not knowing the laws and regulations within the construction system of California.

I started from the bottom, many weekends I worked in construction sites, as a construction worker, to better understand the construction system of California. Thankfully those many weekends paid off and now, this is our specialty.
And I founded CREATIONIII.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely to all the national parks and city tours, all those nature tours that always undertake new adventures and stories to tell, visiting every corner, every street, eating food at local businesses to support the growth of those small entrepreneurial businesses. .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is much to be thankful for in my career, family and friends, but to begin with, my parents, the main pillars in the family, both my mother and my father have given their maximum so that I am here where I am now, the unconditional support and demand of my wife to always push myself to be better and give the maximum in each of my projects, my sister, always attentive to the steps I take to correct myself and guide me on the best path.
