Meet Shereen Rayan | Host – In The Front Row

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shereen Rayan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shereen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be in control of the content I produced. I wanted that content to be positive and interesting, supporting athletes as human beings. I was tired of TMZ type articles and interviews that tore apart athletes careers, treated them as objects and spewed negative emotions to get clicks and views.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
If you believe you can do it, you can! I went into this with no expectations, just wanted to support and give exposure to athletes and get to know them and how they are so successful. To figure out what their secrets are to being successful.
We ended up creating a platform where sports enthusiasts as well as athletes could create content, learn about the business, get exposure and gain experience through our platform which includes website design and maintenance, social media expansion, content and engagement, filming, editing and providing interesting entertaining content, and writing and informing fans. Most of our Independent Contractors move on to full time jobs and excelling in the career they either dreamed of or wanted to transition to post sports.
The biggest lesson I have learned is to be honest, positive and support others in their dreams and they will support you. Other lessons I’ve learned are not to cross anyone or burn bridges and to collaborate with fellow media folks instead of compete with them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Los Angeles, but when I visit Tucson, I love to hang out on University and I have to go to Frog n’ Firkin for pizza. There is just something about University ave that feels like home.
At night I enjoy the Hotel Converse outdoor bar and music, and going to the foothills for dinner.
Mostly when I am in Tucson, I am on the University of Arizona campus for a sports event and to visit folks I have met and become friends with through the years. Especially Eva (Program Coordinator, Federal Pell Grant Compliance at Pima Community College) and Dave Witecha (Associate Director, Undergraduate Recruitment and Alumni Relations.)
Highlights usually include pregaming with the Brase/Hairgrove family, and spotting tackles in the booth with Brian Jeffries and Lamont Lovett.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank all the athletes who supported me by giving me their time for interviews and social media. Some key athletes include Ira Lee, Brandon Williams, Shareef O’Neal, Rawle Alkins, Frank Session, Montrezl Harrell, Alex Caruso, Thomas Bryant, Metta World Peace, Vander Blue, Khalil Tate, Jacob Alsadek, Jerry Roberts Jr,, Ryan Anderson, Isaiah Fox, Joseph Blair, Julie Hairgrove, Matt Brase, Omar Ballo, Kerr Kriisa, Azuolas Tubelis, Devaughn Cooper, Antonio Parks, Gabe York, Patrick Rembert, Chance Comanche, Steph Branch, Scott Machado, Luke Walton, Ricky Hunley, Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, and more.
I also want to thank my mentor Brian Jeffries who has always had my back, who gave me my first professional opportunity and has stuck by me through thick and thin over the last decade. Also two other supporters and mentors Jen Mueller, Talk Sporty to Me and Eric Pincus, Bleacher Report.
Also my editor on ZonaZealots Eric Townsend and my film editors, writers and hosts on In The Front Row, Akili Tate, Ahsante Smith, Malcolm Bray, Fredo Cervantes, Lori Burkhart, Asha Doucet, Justin Batiste, Chris Rodriguez and more.
