We had the good fortune of connecting with Soleil and Solimar Matias-Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Soleil and Solimar, what inspires you?
Natural beauty. We truly believe that everything and everyone is beautiful in their own way. The diversity around us and within us inspires us to want to create a world that is more inclusive.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart, Together We are Stronger! We call it our Twin Power. We are both very creative; we design, we paint, we do make up, hair and that fuels our passion for modeling and fashion.

It hasn’t been easy to break into the industry, we just turned 13 and we are either too young, too old, not tall enough, too fierce in our look, too high fashion in our walk instead of bubbly kid walk, and we can go on and on. BUT, we focus on our end goal and keep moving forward. We had to build some tough skin, even at our age. We’ve had to learn to take chances even when we think we might fail but also find a way to create opportunities.

We want the world to know that while failing might be scary, not trying is even scarier. We, @Solx2twins, are proud to be different, look different and stand for all the strong, determined tweens/teens that want to make their dreams come true. Limitless possibilities is what we stand for and go for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
How fun. If our best friend came to visit and of course we where on school break, this would be our itinerary: by the way we are vegan so wait for our favorite vegan hang outs:

Monday – We live by South Mountain trails, so a nice hike with lots of picture taking. Breakfast at our house, because our mom is an awesome vegan cook and then a fun BBQ backyard party, as our dad is a vegan BBQ master!

Tuesday – Shopping expedition. We do love shopping, so a day of trying on cloth, shoes and getting our nails done is always fun. We like Tempe Marketplace, because they even have live bands while you are shopping. While there we must stop at As you Wish for some arts and crafts and then Cinnaholic, you would never know it’s vegan, but we are so glad it is.

Wednesday – Head out to Camelback mountains for a hike, then to Old Town Scottsdale. It’s such a cute down to earth small town feel with lots of spots for shopping of local native-made jewelry, pottery, baskets and art galleries. On the way back, go to Jinya Ramen Bar.

Thursday – Going to Better Piggies Rescue is an unforgettable day of service experience. There are tons of pigs of all ages and sizes that have been rescued and we would get to help around the farm but also, hug, cuddle and play with all the pigs, horses, cows and dogs around the farm. Then we have to eat at Earth Plant Based and Goji Berry – Best chimichanga and wings. And you can’t go without the Matcha Green Tea Latte and any dessert, ANY!!!

Friday – A girls spa day at home. We have to do masks, hair, makeup, and Tik Tok videos of us all dancing and having fun. We would make a lasagna, fried sweet plantain and bake a flancocho. I mean we are Puerto Rican, so having our friend eat some Flancocho is definitely a must.

Saturday – Sedona, one of our favorite places ever. Great hiking trail and waffle and avocado toast at Local Juicery. Then walking around town to all the local shops.

Sunday – Day of rest… nice movie day with some sushi from Tabe-Mono as they get ready to go back home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to send a huge shout out to our Modeling Coach – Erika Mash from MTM (More than Modeling) and owner of Caring for the Earth Dress Rentals and Arid Aquatics. She has been instrumental in our passion for modeling, becoming an entrepreneur and creating a loving and caring experience in our modeling journey.

Our mom, dad and Erika, are our biggest supporters and cheerleaders. They have given us the tools, confidence, space and encouragement to work hard and keep progressing towards ours goals of becoming top models and fashion icons. No limiting thoughts allowed.
