We had the good fortune of connecting with Stealing Oceans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stealing, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was pretty simple, I loved music and I wanted to make my passion my job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started making music because I was lost, suicidal and had no idea how to deal with the demons I was battling at the time. Writing became my own form of therapy and I fell in love with it.

Turning your passion into a career is very difficult but if you truly love what you do, you’ll find a way to make it happen. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10yrs to supplement my income while I pursued a career as an artist. At age 26, I finally got my break, signed a record deal and quit my day job. The journey has been far from easy but I’ve leaned on the support of my family and friends to help me keep pushing on to achieve my goals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we had a week, I would start us off in Sedona for a couple days. It’s the perfect spot to reconnect after time apart and get back to vibing on a deeper level. After a couple days in Sedona, we’d drive back to Scottsdale in time to have dinner & drinks at the Beverly On Main. They have the best atmosphere, specialty cocktails and vegan food in all of Arizona. Before or after dinner, we’d cruise down Main st to check out all the badass art galleries on the street. Other things on the itinerary for the week would be hiking camelback, seeing a concert at the Van Buren, stopping by Bottled Blonde to see Vinny the most entertaining manager in nightlife and crushing some potato tacos at Hash Kitchen.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family deserves the most credit and recognition for my success as an artist. My brother Scott taught me how to play guitar and write songs. My brother JT mentored me in business and pushed me to work hard every day.
My parents love and support helped me through some of my darkest times.
