Meet Sten Joddi | Tattoo & Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sten Joddi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sten, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Well I do Tattoos and Music so it only made since to create TMG Tattoo Muzik Group. Then after 10+ years working under another local artist in April of 2017 I decided to opened a tattoo shop and recording studio in one place and started working for myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always said the reason I’m still here is because I never gave up. After everyone around me stopped I kept going. Hell no it wasn’t easy, shit sucks sometimes. Long days, even longer nights, sacrifices of time and money. Again without my family I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the things I’ve achieved. Tattoos and Music are everything to me other than my family. Tattoos and Music are what helped me overcome struggles in my life. They gave me a purpose and something to push myself at. Writing music about my life as a Native American Tattoo Artist from hard times to paying bills. I’ve learned many lessons during this journey, 1 don’t trust everyone 2 you will never please everyone 3 take educated risk 4 never give up. I’d like the world to know Sten Joddi is a Father & Husband 1st then he is a Tattoo Artist then he’s a HipHop Artist and I enjoy giving back to my community and helping young people find motivation to pursue their dreams.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well. I live in a town of about 30,000 people in North Iowa called Mason City. Not a huge place but it’s a nice place to live and raise a family, far from the Oklahoma Life but quite similar in some aspects. I’d probably start off by showing them around Clear Lake, maybe stop by my studio for a Tattoo or Recording session. Then there’s a few places to eat here Los Palmas is a great Mexican Food spot to eat here in Mason City Iowa. Or we may just pull up to my crib and throw something on the Grill and BarBQ it up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Wife Amber, without her being in my life I would have never made it this far. Although my ideas weren’t always the best and we’ve taken losses and she even expressed her doubts but she stuck with me and believed in me. She sacrificed and never gave up on me. She’s beautiful, strong, amazing and she’s the mother of all my beautiful children! I love you Amber!
