Meet Stephanie Davidson | Shamanic Healer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Davidson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’m guessing that I feel very different about risk than the average human. As a skydiver and helicopter pilot, I’ve learned to make calculated decisions. While my actions may seem risky or even dangerous to others, I only move forward when I feel comfortably armed with valid information.
I think a better question might be in relation to how fear has effected the my decision making. As an Addiction and Trauma Recovery Specialist and someone who personally struggled to overcome severe, chronic anxiety, I can say for certain that fear and the biological responses associated with it can be crippling. I’ve spent years teaching my clients how they can reprogram themselves at a subconscious level, arming them with the tools they need to respond intelligently rather than react emotionally. I teach techniques to empower my clients to take back control over their lives and realities. I would never have been able to do this for others had I not had the strength and the determination to do it for myself.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think my personal practice and dedication set me apart from others. As a Wellness Provider, I feel I have a responsibility to offer genuine holistic care. The only way I can give guidance to another is for me to hold myself to the highest possible standard and to consistently continue my education and training.
Nothing about my journey was easy. When I started, 25 years ago, people were not as interested in “alternative” remedies. The educational programs backed by big Pharma certainly did not support students taking control of their own healthcare needs. In order to learn new modalities, I had to travel abroad to a number of countries over many years. I volunteered my time and did a number of work exchanges to acquire food and accommodations which allowed me to see and feel what it was like to live in new ways and drastically shift my perspectives.
I eventually came back full circle to develop a curriculum that integrates real, holistic healing with our current mental health paradigm. I work as a bridge between worlds: the seen and unseen, mainstream and counterculture, the known and unknowable. Wether my clients are firmly rooted in the tangible or have traversed the spaced in between, it’s up to me to meet them exactly where they are. My job is to hold the flashlight. I’m not here to prove I’m right or build my own ego. I’m here merely to offer suggestions and techniques that will lead my clients to their own Truth through direct experience.
One of the most important lessons along the way involved learning to trust my inner knowing. All the answers have always been within. As a business professional, it was a struggle to become all of who I am because what I was taught was out of alignment for me. When I tried to conform, I was not nearly as successful as when I learned to do things exactly as I felt they needed to be done, and not at all how I was told.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my tribe were to come out for a visit, I would take whomever to see the natural wonders and the biodiversity Arizona has to offer. In my experience, many people mistakenly think that Arizona is nothing but scorching heat and barren desert. I’d plan hiking and camping trips to see the magical red rocks, springs, falls, foliage and forests. If we had time, I’d sneak over for lunch at Desert Roots Kitchen, where the food is clean, healthy, and home cooked, by people who care!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Unfortunately, I did not have the love, support, and mentorship many find along the way. I don’t say this for an extra pat on the back and certainly not for any pity. My story is uniquely beautiful and made me a strong, reliant human. I spent a significant time alone as a child and was raised with a generation who didn’t feel children should have a voice. I was taught to sit down, shut up, and go to school.
Thankfully, I loved the school! ..not the indoctrination, but the access to information. Some have forgotten, while others will never know what it was like not to have the answers to everything available at the tip of your finger, so I am fortunate and immensely grateful for BOOKS, pages and ink, good ‘ol fashion bound paper. I was able to learn, to soar, to travel, and encounter many great masters no longer embodied via the written word. I wish I could name one, but I have a whole page on my website dedicated to books that shifted me into a better place and expanded my comprehension of the reality in which I exist.
