We had the good fortune of connecting with Sterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sterling, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Never give up! You can change what you do or how you are doing it. You can change course or direction but you must never give up! Find something you are passionate about, something that makes you want to get out of bed every morning and just do it. You have to believe!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently I am a self-published children’s book author! So far in 2022 I have written and illustrated two learning books available on Amazon and one storybook is available on Lulu.com. I have a third learning book in process and a fourth planned to release before the end of the year. To make ends meet I spend my time landscaping for Native Grounds in Northern California. It’s a tough job but I enjoy working outside with plants and it’s mostly senior citizens I’m helping. Speaking of plants I have pledged to plant a tree for every book sold! I’m currently looking to partner with a non-profit to work out a deal and I’m hoping it can be related to the fires which have devastated so many of the forests here in California.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to spend my time in National forests or parks. The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches National Park and Yosemite are some of my favorites just to name a few!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my biggest fan and believer, my mother! Nothing makes her more happy than seeing pictures and videos of me having fun out in the woods!
