Meet Tannia Cortez | Mixed media Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tannia Cortez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tannia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I persue an Artistic career for Passion, Since I was in kindergarden I found a different way to express myself and It was trough Art /drawing. I really started to create paintings when I was in high school I found myself happy for doing drawing and painting and I followed my heart to do what I really like to do. I moved to California in 2013 to achieve a bachelors degree at the Academy of Art University , I knew that it was not easy but I really wanted to take a risk. Even though I have not accomplish all my goals , I am keep creating new art pieces because its a way to express myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what makes my art different it is the diverse mediums that I use to create my pieces .I get inspired by nature and the warm sun from Arizona, I am originally from Sonora , Mexico where everything is desert and you will see cactus and very vibrant sunsets. Most of my paintings are colorful and somewhat abstract, In every painting I incorporate something personal could be a cactus a big sun or a heart. Since I moved to California It has not been easy in some way that motivates me to keep going .Some of the lessons that I have learned is that you art is not to pleased others it is about you , it is your soul, it is to please yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places is De young Museum in San francisco , it is a beatiful place. Puerto 27 it is my favorite place to eat it has an open view to the ocean , besides that food it is amazing ! Their food transport you to a different level.Of course we cant missed an ice cream ,Mitchels ice cream is the best.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe the love of my family and friends Always helps me to keep doing what I am doing , it is very comfortable when my friends or clients said “Don’t quit on your Art” it feels good.
