Meet Tatum Grimes | Founder and CEO of The Grimes and Company

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatum Grimes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatum, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has played a big role in my life and career. Starting my business was a risk — financially, emotionally, and mentally — but it was a calculated one. I knew the work, I knew the demand, and I knew my standards. The bigger risk, honestly, would’ve been staying somewhere I knew wasn’t aligned with what I wanted long-term.
Most of the growth I’ve experienced has come from moments where I chose discomfort over stagnation. Hiring before it felt “easy,” setting boundaries with clients, walking away from situations that weren’t the right fit — those were all risks. But each one created more clarity, stronger systems, and more confidence.
I’ve learned that taking the right risks builds resilience. Even when something doesn’t work out exactly as planned, it sharpens my instincts and reinforces that I can adapt. Risk-taking, for me, isn’t about chasing uncertainty — it’s about choosing growth, backing myself, and trusting that I can handle whatever comes next.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Grimes and Company was built on intention, standards, and people. From the beginning, I wanted to create a service that felt dependable, consistent, and genuinely cared for not rushed or transactional. What sets us apart is our attention to detail, clear systems, and the way we value both our clients and our team. We don’t believe in cutting corners, and we don’t believe in growing at the expense of quality or integrity.
What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve built. I’ve worked hard to create an environment where expectations are clear, communication is strong, and people feel supported. That structure allows us to deliver a higher level of service while protecting our team from burnout and our clients from inconsistency. I’m excited about continuing to grow in a way that’s sustainable and aligned with our values.
Getting to where we are today was not easy. Building a business comes with long hours, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. There were moments where growth felt uncomfortable hiring before it felt safe, setting boundaries with clients, and walking away from work that wasn’t the right fit. Each challenge forced me to refine our systems, trust my instincts, and stay committed to the standards I set from day one.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are that clarity creates consistency, boundaries protect growth, and people matter more than speed. Progress doesn’t come from perfection it comes from showing up, adapting, and staying aligned with your values even when it’s hard.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that this business was built with care. Every process, expectation, and decision is intentional. The Grimes and Company isn’t just about cleaning spaces — it’s about creating trust, reliability, and peace of mind. Our story is one of steady growth, resilience, and believing that doing things the right way will always matter.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want them to experience the best mix of Arizona energy and laid-back moments. We’d start with good coffee and breakfast, then get outside maybe a hike with views or a desert sunset because that never gets old. I’d take them to some of my favorite local spots for food and drinks, places that feel fun but still relaxed, where you can actually talk and laugh. We’d squeeze in a little exploring, a little shopping, and definitely end the day somewhere with a great vibe, good music, and solid drinks. Nothing rushed just good company, good food, and soaking in the place the way locals actually do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jessie, before The Grimes and Company ever became what it is today, there was you.
You believed in me when it was just an idea, stood by me through every uncertain step. You reminded me of my vision on the days I doubted myself and never once stopped having my back.
This business wouldn’t exist the way it does without your support, patience, and belief in me. I’m endlessly grateful for you always.
