We had the good fortune of connecting with Ted Verderame and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ted, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always known I wanted to start my own business. Doing so was simply a matter of timing and the right idea. My career leading up to founding Endatto was spent in the management consulting industry, helping others to start or fix their businesses. In late 2018, the desire to start my own was too great to ignore. Around this same time, life threw a few curveballs that made it imperative to my health and happiness that I had total control over my day to day life. But, I had to figure out what I was passionate enough about to turn into a career, as well as which of those passions represented a realistic business opportunity. After a few months, it was clear that my love for watches could be transformed into start-up, and thankfully the barrier to entry in terms of capital was not too large a sum to overcome. From there, it was all about making the right contacts.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Endatto is an American watch brand specializing in attainable luxury timepieces. All of our watches are Swiss-made, ensuring the highest quality. We strive to design watches with character that stand out on the wrist, revealing a bit of the wearer’s personality. Our watches are versatile, designed to be worn dressed up or dressed down and featuring straps with quick-release pins, allowing you to quickly change up the look of the watch. All of the watches in our premier collection are delivered in a hand-crafted, 2-watch travel case that we designed in-house and adds tremendous value to the investment. Because we realize this is an investment. An investment in an incredible piece of engineering, an investment in an expertly designed accessory, an investment in the image one hopes to project to the world. Getting to this point was incredibly difficult. This journey started in earnest in early 2019 when I officially founded Endatto. After 9 months of design decisions, supplier meetings, constant timeline adjustments, and pre-dawn video meetings with colleagues across the Atlantic, we were planning to launch in January of 2020. Then the global pandemic hit, throwing our supply chain in to chaos. Somehow, we stayed afloat while waiting out the delays, and we were able to officially launch the premier collection on June 17, 2020. We’re incredibly proud to have overcome such a significant hurdle, but still have a fight on our hands to continue operations while the world gets back to normal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was raised in Arcadia. Given that, and given the number of food and drink spots that have sprouted in the area, I’d start with a bit of a neighborhood tour of all the places I frequent. Ohso, JTs, Churchills, The Bar, The Vig, Whining Pig, etc. I’d also make sure to take them up to Wrigley Mansion at some point for a drink and sunset. Obviously, they should get outdoors a bit, so a tee-time at the Biltmore and a hike up one of the popular trails in the area would have to make the itinerary too. Eventually we’d go downtown and I’d take them to two of my can’t-miss spots, Valley Bar and Crescent Ballroom. If a bit more culture is what they are after, the Phoenix Art Museum is one of my favorite places in the city, and the Heard Museum would provide them with a bit of local history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents. Without their constant love and support none of this would be possible.
