We had the good fortune of connecting with The Border Hookups and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Border Hookups, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When deciding to go the road full time we had to factor in the risks. When it came to playing music on the road we had to factor in that the local connections we had relied on would no longer be there. We would have to continue to prove ourselves time and time again to new venues. There was a very good chance that our frequency of shows would decline.

As for our YouTube channel, we were entering uncharted territory in a heavily saturated market that is RV/adventure content. We hoped to rely on some unique niches that would potentially set us apart – Music, health coaching and our love for camping off-grid. One month before hitting the road, Jacqueline had entered into a new business venture that has since paid off. Again, uncharted territory.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art three-fold. First, we are content creators for YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. Our long-form videos live on the YouTube platform while our short-form videos inhabit the rest. Our videos focus on the day-the-life world of a full time RVer with sprinkles of how to’s and lessons learned mixed in. Secondly, we are working musicians, setting up shows at breweries, wineries, RV parks and corporate events. In addition to live shows, we record our own music. We are on every major music streaming platform. Last, but by no means least, we are health coaches who help people to lose weight. Our clients are spread across the world.

What sets us apart from is the fact that in addition to being full time RVers, with play music and work to help to the world to be a healthier place.

Lessons learned along the way include: Slow your roll. It’s not a race. Stop to read the historical plaques along side the road. Be honest in your work, no matter the risk. Find your community and embrace it!

Our brand is all about adventure, inclusion, health and music about the road and beyond.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our favorite places to visit change almost daily. I’ll make this easy and talk about the view that I am looking at as I write this. Ouray, Colorado. Located in a box canyon, Ouray is filled with great restaurants, breweries and hiking galore. Stay at the Riverside RV park, just outside of Ouray proper. It is on the spendy side, but you can’t beat the views and accessibility.

As for meeting people, the Xscapers Bash help yearly in Lake Havasu, Arizona is a great place to connect with other full time RVers who still work on the road. It should read held instead of help.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to give a shoutout to the Xscapers group where we were fortunate enough and still are fortunate enough to meet new like-minded working, full time travelers. In addition, our group of RV Content Creators and the RV Entrepreneurs group have helped us to navigate the waters of an RV content creator.
