We had the good fortune of connecting with The Leo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Leo, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was a kid, I always gravitated around music. Everything was an instrument to me growing up. I started writing music when I was about 13. From there I progressed and fell in love with recording my own music. That’s why I decided to continue to pursue my music career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m mostly proud of my progress and all the obstacles I had to get through to be where I am today. It definitely wasn’t easy especially when people are trying to see you fail. I’ve just always got up when I was down and went harder. Luckily I have some amazing friends and audio engineers that I’ve met in this music industry that are actually more like family to me.

I’ve learned a lot of lessons being in this industry. Not everyone will like or listen to the music I make and that’s okay. I’m not for everyone. I just do this because I genuinely love the process of the art that I can create. It’s the only place I can express myself and it feels amazing doing so.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to shoutout boy Josh. That dude really helped me a lot while I was down and out. With his support, I was able to get back on my feet and back on track where I needed to be at! Brothers for life.

I’d also like to give a shoutout to D Carter, Bxnks and Enzo! With y’all, every studio session we’re high off the same energy and vibes! Y’all definitely bring out the creativity in me and I appreciate every one of y’all more than you know.

Lastly, I’d like to shoutout my lil family! Y’all are the reason I work so hard. To see my people happy is everything.
