We had the good fortune of connecting with TRHibe aka The Runaway Hamsters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi TRHibe, what is the most important factor behind your success?
“We love playing and creating music. It would be amazing to make a living at it and be able to stay connected through our music. Even now we have diverse interests in life, but when we get together singing – that part feels exactly the same. Performing at the Grand Ole Opry or the mother church (Ryman Auditorium) would be icing on the cake!”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our story: Our art is an entanglement of words, music, and emotions that we tell with our voices, instruments and expressions. Sometimes it is live and direct, sometimes it’s with the help of media, blending sound, pictures and video.. Our relationships and life experiences provide endless inspiration so we never run out of creative ways to reach our fans and share our musical stories!
Was it hard:
Our journey has been both easy and hard. When we first started out, a song we wrote and recorded to help out a friend dealing with health challenges, ended up getting unintentional notice and we found our little band in the spotlight. It was fun and exciting and headed us on our way. Since then, we have had our share of disappointments as well. We have had music that showed great promise but failed to ignite the support it needed to go really big. We have dealt with broken promises and dangled carrots that simply never came through. We have even had our own challenges with health, but we have persevered and we are still smiling and moving ahead.
How did we overcome and what lessons learned:
The biggest lesson is to pursue music because you love it, not for some promise. If you love what you do, and are with people you enjoy, the reward occurs throughout the process.
What to tell the world:
We feel we have much more to say and want to reach further into this world. We genuinely care for others and want to spread joy and hope…its contagious. Our brand is an honest representation of what we feel. We respect and honor traditions but we like to be current as well, weaving both new an old sounds into our stories.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, there is so much to do. If it happens to be a holiday visit, the Fairmont Princess is one of our favorite spots, especially at Christmas. The restaurants are great and when they have a special event at the Fairmont, it is really special! We also like taking in the events that come and go at Westworld. We love horses and they often have an equestrian feature and Riley loves car shows, like the Barrett-Jackson.
Our go-to foodie place is Cook & Craft, everything is so thought out and unique. Their deviled eggs are something you don’t get many places and everyone in our crew can find things they like on the menu. A quirky stop that we love is The Thumb. It has great barbecue, sometimes tunes, and a gift shop that will keep you busy and laughing! You can fill your car up with gas too!
We also like shopping, so Kierland Plaza is one favorite walk around. Even when the temperature is high, we enjoy the stroll and getting to be outside. it has good places to eat and SHOPPING! I am sure we would make our way to Desert Ridge Marketplace too, which has some fun extras like Dave & Busters and lots of food choices and if you want to completely overload on shopping, there is Fashion Square mall! Old Town Scottsdale is a good place to find some of the clothes we wear from Double D Ranch at Bichoff’s Shades of the West. We like a little hiking too and Camelback Mountain is nice place to take friends who want to climb rocks and see the city!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to call out the continued support of our parents! Not only have they taught us a lot about music, they have been roadies, fans and supporters throughout. They congratulate us when we do well, hug us when things are hard and encourage us to keep following our dreams.
