We had the good fortune of connecting with Tulsy Ball and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tulsy, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to work tirelessly, without regard for any balance in my life. That was before I got married 2 years ago and suddenly I had a family. I’m still focused on my work, but I’ve found that the time spent with family and taking the moments to breathe and appreciate life, have made my work hours more effective.
That balance improves my connection and communication with everyone in my life, at work and at home.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Chagit Products has been an incredible and difficult journey to date. We founded the company in 2015, going against all the standard assumptions of a food/beverage business model.
Common sense says a brand shouldn’t try to manufacture. Be a marketer, or a maker or a supplier, don’t try to be all three.
We felt that we had no choice. In order to bring the best quality product to market for a reasonable price, the only path was to manage and control every aspect of the supply chain, from the harvest to the retail customer.
We’ve learned that you need more capital that you projected, to overcome regulatory hurdles and establish a path to success. We learned that hard way, by hitting every branch on the tree on the way down. We’ve learned that perseverance is the only option if you want to accomplish something great.
We are incredibly excited that our patent-pending extraction process sets us apart from the entire industry and that the products we make have had a direct impact on the health and well-being of our customers. When I get a call or an email from someone whose life we have changed, it makes the hard days a lot easier.
We want the world to know that we don’t compromise when it comes to our products. We use real mushrooms to make real products that have real results.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
California is famous for many things, but the coastal towns are my favorite. From Chula Vista to Eureka, the Southern, Central and Northern coasts of this state are unparalleled in their beauty and diversity.
A week isn’t even enough time to see half of it, but heading south to north, a day each in La Jolla, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Malibu, Santa Barbara, Morro Bay and Carmel/Monterey would be a good sampling.
And I know great people and have friends all along the way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicated to my family, who have stood by me through thick and thin.
