We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business formed from a concept I had in mind for a media company when I was in college. I wanted an umbrella to combine photography, music production, graphic design, and later on podcasting. I had many ideas and aspirations and from there Aggregate Perspective was born.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The art forms i’m most passionate about are music and photography. Those are the foundational elements of my business, art, and lifestyle. Over the past 13 years i’ve been playing guitar and singing, 10 of those in live performing original bands, and more recently i’ve been learning bass, piano, and producing music. Along with the addition of new instruments has been teaching music which has added a new dimension for me. On the photography front i’ve dabbled in an array of different photography styles from nature, to portraits, to action shots of musicians, and images of events. The intersection of music, photography, and community is what drives me to keep pushing forward to let the world know we are here right now, in our communities, and we are making noise. To say that any of this has been easy is laughable. As you can imagine, the older you get the less serious people take musical aspirations. Music and photography don’t exactly pay the bills unless you have solid clients, effective networking abilities, and years of experience which has all come slowly but progress has been made in all avenues.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a musician and photographer has taken me all across the valley. My favorite spots to hang out are Yucca Tap Room in Tempe; a dingy piece of punk history that has mine and my band mates’ hearts, El Charro Hipster Bar; dubbed the best open mic coffee shop of Phoenix by the Phoenix New Times and has some fantastic Mexican food and coffee, or Amped Coffee out in Anthem; home of my band best friends Wild Giants and some exceptional coffee. There are also many cool hiking spots like Pinnacle Peak, Papago Park, and A mountain for some great sights of the city or the beautiful AZ sunsets.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh man, so many people deserve credit for aiding me in growth and development. My parents deserve so much love for the support, although not verbalized, that they have given me. They allowed my band to practice at our house, they helped me go to college, and they helped me have a place to live and food to eat while I figured out how to build.
