We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Reiser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
In the pool industry, especially luxury pools, it is a very antiquated space. Most of our competitors don’t leverage the technology or social media to market themselves which is fascinating to me when we are building beautiful outdoor living environments.

I took a different approach to the industry, primarily because I knew it needed to be updated, and I wanted to do the complete opposite of what the competition was doing.

One of my best ideas was to create an online interactive gallery for my clients of their project, complete with a 3D fly-through video of the design. This one idea alone led to millions of dollars of sales as no one else in the industry does this.

Here’s the example of my gallery that I use to show my client’s the vision and dream of their backyard:

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Designing luxury pools took thousands of hours of practice. Being able to see an empty backyard or envisioning the home from architectural plans is a real form of art. The other side of that is influencing your client to dream big with you. Those two things will only get you so far though without impressive marketing. I was able to leverage my design skills through technology, which assisted me in selling very large residential outdoor living environments, as well as setting a trend for the pool industry in South Texas.

I overcame a lot of the learning curve by being surrounded by great mentors who have been in the industry for 20+ years. Learning from the best in the industry and combining that knowledge with my background in digital marketing was a key to my success of getting started in the industry.

When I was 18 years old, I started my first business as a mobile app developer selling to small businesses. Around the same time, I formed my first media company which has seen massive success over the past 10 years. What started as a small Facebook page grew into a social media empire with a combined following of one million followers primarily located in the state of Texas.

Being able to reach 16 million people on a weekly basis, my brands online led to a lot of my success in the pool industry as well. I was able to leverage my following to boost my designs and assist in building Palo Verde Pools.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being in the luxury pool space, I enjoy spending my time at resorts and wineries. It’s also important to align yourself with the product you are selling, so while I’m enjoying a trip I’m also immersing myself in the environments that my clients would also be in. I’ll often go to upscale restaurants, rooftop bars, golf tournaments or luxury home tours.

The best itinerary would be a day trip to the wine country of Texas, Fredericksburg. From there we would travel to three to four of my favorite wineries, and finish the day off near Dripping Springs at the Desert Door distillery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gene Guarino, founder of the Residential Assisted Living Academy in Phoenix, Arizona was my greatest mentor. He taught me to have an abundance mindset, that there is always enough opportunity out there. He also taught me that money is the matrix, meaning that it is made up and that you shouldn’t fear a dollar amount. This abundance mindset coupled with what he taught me about money, has led to me being able to sell millions of dollars worth of luxury projects.

A lot of what he taught me was mindset based. If you run into an issue, how can you get it solved or how can we make it work, instead of taking no for an answer.

While Gene taught me a lot, he also taught me that your voice is an art form. The way you speak to people can be a great tool for success. From tonalities to voice inflections, it all makes a difference in winning big deals.
