We had the good fortune of connecting with Wah-Wah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wah-Wah, why did you pursue a creative career?
First before anything we make music because it’s our passion and we love working with each other. We are all best of friends so the creativity comes naturally when working together. Aside from that we just hope that our music and the songs resonate with people. The best feeling in the world is when someone tells us that our music had some kind of impact on them or brought out a certain emotion. We want people to feel related to and or connected to us through the music!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are Wah-Wah, a 4 piece independent alt rock band out of Phoenix Arizona. I think the thing we are most proud of is just the connection we have with each other and the art we have created together. It’s undeniable that when we step up on stage together that the room is filled with passion. I think maybe our personal connection with each other outside of music sets us apart from other bands a little bit. We truly are best friends and it would be a dream come true to make music as a full time job together. It most definitely was not easy to get where we are today and we definitely strive to continue growing as a group. None of us came from any sort of a wealthy background or anything like that. We’ve also never received any financial support from a label or anything of that nature. Everything that we make wether is the music, photoshoots, videos, traveling for shows, etc have all been funded by us 4. Regardless though it keeps us all motivated knowing that we all share the same love and will all always be willing to contribute. The biggest lesson i would say we have learned is patience. Not everything comes instantly and not every song comes together as easily as others. But either way it always works out in the end and we are always still happy to be doing this! We want the world to know truly how much we put into our music. The lyrics we right all come straight from our personal experiences most the time. It’s like we are giving a little bit of ourselves to the people in hopes they can either relate or find peace in it. Or even just enjoy how it sounds haha!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday – Show them the studio, relax, have dinner at Venezia’s Pizza

Tuesday – Bring them to our homies printing shop called There Space so they can see where so much art in the Phoenix clothing scene comes out of

Wednesday- Enjoy the night at home with a bunch of close friends all together

Thursday – Go play pool and get some drinks at Cornish

Friday – Go see as show at the Van Buren because it is one of the coolest venues in Arizona

Saturday – Go see some local bands playing somewhere around the city

Sunday – Kick back and maybe show them some music that has been in the works

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As far as musical influences, we really look up to artists like Alabama Shakes, The Pixies, Dijon, Cage the Elephant and etc. But for people in our lives who have helped us and kept us inspired, Alan’s (our frontman) brother comes to mind. Elijah Flores has always showed us nothing but love and support. He has kept us motivated tremendously and has done so much more than we could have ever asked to help us.
