We had the good fortune of connecting with Walter Brock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Walter, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor of success behind SupportVets is collaboration. We’ve already seen amazing people come forward in multiple countries wanting to support in getting the word out and finding missing Veteran and Service Member owned businesses and service organization resources. We as veterans are used to a team centric method of operation, and it is awesome to see the military family coming together in this ecosystem of support.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been working on SupportVets for over 9 years now around my fulltime occupation in Commercial Real Estate, until I decided to focus full time on SupportVets to try to get it into the hands of as many Veterans as possible as rapidly as possible. There has been a lot of early mornings and late nights, and many setbacks along the way, but through the grace of providence and the support of friends and family, we’ve been able to make a lot of progress.

I think that the biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to stay committed to worthwhile pursuits. As the effort mounts, and the stress compiles, the worthiness of the endeavor is what helps you push through.

I want the world to know that SupportVets is the ecosystem of Veteran and Service Member support that they all deserve that hasn’t existed in one place till now. We are just beginning to scratch the surface on the help that it can provide, and need everyone’s help in identifying missing resources, and voluntarily contributing financially in whatever amount they are able to, so that we can continue to enhance the ecosystem to amplify its ability to help.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d definitely invite them to travel to southern Utah down to the national parks that we have, as they are absolutely breathtaking and inspiring.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The biggest shout out goes out to my wife and family. They’ve supported me through many years of long hours and effort as we’ve been building SupportVets. There is no way I could have ever gotten this far without their patience, strength, and love.

Another shout out is due to Gary MacMillan and his group Families4Veterans in the UK. They immediately caught the vision of the ecosystem we’re working to create, and jumped onboard volunteering their time and effort to help move things forward.
