Meet Wesley Lee | Taekwon-Do Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wesley Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wesley, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Martial arts training can make major impact on students lives. These impacts will flow form the student into the community at large.
Students learn to follow the tenets of Taekwon-Do and not just follow them but to exemplars of the tenets. To be the example to everyone around them on how to live tenets.
Courtesy: Bringing politeness and kindness into our community
Integrity: Bringing truth and loyalty to those in the community
Perseverance: Not giving up when things get tough, to keep helping themselves and all those around them.
Self Control: Students control their minds and bodies being great members of the community.
Indomitable Spirit: To keep going when things get tough, not allowing bad voices to shut down the good voices in the community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One of the biggest differences Vail Taekwon-Do Academy has from other schools is our goal is to provide quality martial arts training at very affordable prices.
We do not run the school as a source of income. We all have day jobs to pay our bills. The school is there to get martial arts out to as many students as possible.
Provide high quality instructor at very affordable prices.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Old Tucson Studio – I would take them to Old Tucson to enjoy the theme park. Hopefully they are visiting in October so they can go out to Nightfall!
Mount Lemon – Great hiking trails, amazing views and always great weather
Sonora Hotdog location – I would want my friend to experience the glory of the Sonora Hotdog!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my wife deserves a shoutout. Without the support of my wife I could not run Vail Taekwon-Do. She is the largest driving force in my life.
I could not do what I am doing without my instructors:
Grandmaster Harry Payne – Taught me from my early years. Mentor me as I became and instructor and encouraged me the whole time.
Grandmaster Robert Dunn – Help me grow into a national leader of the IJTF-USA. Taught me the depth and breadeth of TKD.
Grandmaster E.C. Ahn – Inspired me through my color belts and becoming an instructor.
Grandmaster Mark Plante – Helped expand my knowledge of TKD to include years of knowledge.
A shoutout to our black belt Instructors. The support we get from Master Crystal Taton, Master Christian Taton, Mr. Jay Miller, Mr. Benjamin Beil is invaluable.
Final shoutout to my peers in Martial Arts. They help keep me focused on getting better myself, so that I can improve as an instructor. Master Levi Davis, Mr. Howard Hu, Master Jay Spiegel, Master Osbon and many others.
