Meet West Eal | Commercial photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with West Eal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi West, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
honestly the answer for me is simple. And is to keep on going! In November of 2019 my youngest boy was taking away from me by his Mother Yoki. Yoki was unexperienced mother and her lack of experience lead to his death. His death was catastrophic for me but for him and my other kids I had to keep going on. There are still times where get down over my lose but for his memory I push on.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m 46 years old and I am currently writing a book. The book is in titled 1987 and in this book I’m discussing the hardship, challenges and social injustice in the black community and how I feel I rose above all of it. Being that I am a commercial photographer which is not in my opinion a direct Segway between living in the inner city ghetto to where I am now. I had to over come myself by becoming a brand. My arms and chest and legs are completely tatted and I have a deep voice which makes it very challenging to get trust from the majority of American people. What I’ll learn along the way is to speak the kings English which Means To talk with a proper voice and as a intellectual. What I would like the world to know about me is that I am living proof a judging somebody based off the way they looks effects them personally because they are limiting theirselves and missing the opportunity to meet and work with amazing people along this journey we call life. The biggest lesson I learned along the way is something that I’ve always known but i really never applied to life. And that is wisdom is a principal thing and with all my getting I have to get understanding. Humans have the misfortune of compartmentalizing people places and things and I have learned just because it look a certain way does not make it the way I experienced it in the past. What I would like the world to know about me is that if I am not now I will be the greatest photographer of my generation.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was a visit Arizona I would take him to my studio in my studio there’s a bar there’s a small kitchenette and there’s a pool table there’s a music room and lounge so I wouldn’t really had to go outside of my comfort zone to entertain anybody because I brought the entertainment to myself

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
a 14 year old little lady by the name of MAriah . Mariah is a straight A student and speak 2 languages. She is in the 9th grade and paints at the level of Picasso. When I was 30 Mariah Saved me from a dark life style. I owe a lot to her
