Meet Will Brunner | Co-founder Devereux Golf

We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Brunner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk for any entrepreneur is a necessary action you must accept. There is always the fear of the unknown. Taking a risk while recognizing the possible consequences helps tremendously when those fears become a reality. I received a plaque after graduating from college that says, “what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail.” This saying has always pushed me to pursue my goals whether in business or life in general.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I grew up around the farming, ranching and oil and gas industry so to start of golf apparel company was completely foreign to my brother and I. However, the thought and idea of blazing our own trail is what kept us pursuing our dream. The beginning stages of finding manufactures and then selling to accounts across North America was no easy task. We had zero connections and we were starting from the very bottom. Over the years we have created an unbelievable brand that has exceeded our wildest expectations. During our wholesale days our product was sold in over 300 different locations. This was great but also required a lot of extra work and extra expense. Realizing that there was not a golf apparel company that was direct to consumer had us switch our approach in February of 2021. By going direct to consumer we are able to offer our customers a better price due to cutting out the middle man. The D2C approach has also allowed us with more freedom of design by offering pieces that work well for us but country clubs and resorts are hesitant to carry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great spots in Phoenix. I would start by playing golf at The Boulders resort, one of my all time favorites. Afterwards we would head to JTs Bar and Grill for a few cocktails and an order of the best buffalo wings in the valley. Lastly, we would more than likely end up at dinner at Buck and Rider.
Day 2, would include another round of golf at either Troon North or WeKoPa followed by a trip downtown and then to Los Dos Molinos for dinner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father, Robert Brunner. He is the ultimate risk taker and everytime he gets knocked down he easily shakes it off and keeps moving forward. This has to be one of the best life lessons I have learned through simply watching his reactions.
