We had the good fortune of connecting with Yoko Tajima, Image Consultant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yoko, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
More than 80% of first impressions are based on your appearance. A common misconception is falling into dressing how you think you “should” versus what really accentuates your unique beauty. Whether you find yourself hiding behind your clothes like an armor of protection or you’re not feeling aligned with your existing image, I’m here to help you uncover the element style that will harmonize with you.

After 17 years of consulting for thousands of leaders, artists, and organizations across the globe, I’ve discovered a common theme for success. Defining your own charismatic and dynamic style based on your unique element is key.
Through integrating fashion, psychology, and image typing, I developed the Power Imaging™ Method designed to express your true essence. Seeing over 3,000 of my clients transform their lives from the inside out, like I did, is what I live for!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I became enchanted with fashion styling and dreamed of opening my boutique. When I was 14, I started working in the TV, film, and commercial industries, assisting my sister with styling hundreds of celebrities in Tokyo. I helped her until 2004. When I was studying Fashion Business at a university in London, I discovered that it doesn’t fulfill my heart. I wasn’t interested in focusing on my appearance because it seemed superficial.

Then I met an Image Consultant and followed the advice for my element type. There was a change in how I felt and how people approached me, which led me to get my own license.
Now I’m Based in LA, and I work with people from all over the world to step into their true selves and let their inner brilliance shine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to Japan and introduce her to my parents, then visit Zuigan-Ji temple in Matsushima, Miyagi drive by the coast, and eat Uni meal. We’ll fly to Kyoto, see Kinkaku-Ji Golden castle, Kiyomizu temple, Fushimi-Inari shrine, and have Kaiseki meals. Then we will take a train to Osaka, shop in Shinsaibashi, and eat Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. We will spend a whole day at Universal Studio Japan. We will see Super Nintendo world, eat lunch at Kinopio restaurant, and ride attractions like Mario cart and Yoshi ride. We will enjoy dinner and a bottle of champagne at Sky buffet 51.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful to my parents. My name Yoko means “ocean’s child” in Japanese because my parents wished me to become a woman with a big heart like the pacific ocean and go across the seas.

They let me go to England to study Fashion in London. Then, I moved to LA as I got married. My parents are happy I have my life in Southern California with my family and working here!

We celebrated my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary at Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach when they visited, which is one of the most memorable events in my life.
