We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Rohe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to take my photography to another level professionally. By starting my business I constantly have to improve and learn to be the best in my craft. I love the challenge of providing the best photos and experiences I can, it’s motivating and fun.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started travelling, photos were a way to share my travels with my mother and other folks who couldn’t get to the places I was lucky enough to experience. Photos have always been an experience for me and that is what I am trying to share. Sometimes we see a photo, and sometimes our imagination takes us to a time and place where our senses feel it. That’s what brings me joy and motivates my art in photography.

Mixing the art of photography with the business side is something I have struggled with until recently. I think it took some time to learn the direction I wanted to take and then just being fully committed. Taking it slow gave me the time to learn more and expand my portfolio and experiences along the way. Now it’s so much fun to have a new shoot and new challenges each day. The business aspect keeps me focused and constantly learning. I have always taken whatever work I do very seriously. But now the investment is in me and my clients and that is much more rewarding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The great thing about Arizona is the diversity. I love Sedona and the surrounding areas, people often overlook Clarkdale, Rimrock, and the nearby national monuments. There was so much Native American activity in the area, and I love learning about their culture and hiking in these areas. Prescott is a fun town, it’s known for Whiskey Row and it’s nightlife, but I always go see Darren at The Point. The best bartender at one of the best bar’s I’ve been to… and that’s a few! Another great trip is the Grand Canyon, especially if you can make it to the north rim. It’s not crowded and has some really good hikes, you can even backpack and sleep on the rim.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my brother, Nick. When I moved to the west and started traveling constantly Nick always provided the support and guidance that I needed. My erratic lifestyle had plenty of crazy ideas and my brother’s logic provided the funnel to get to the good ones.
