We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Schumaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, how do you define success?
I had to learn that real success is simply and faithfully doing exactly what Jesus has called you to do. It’s not about accomplishing a certain number of things, stacking a certain amount of money, or becoming ultra‑famous. Sure, some of those things might show up along the way, but they’re all temporary.

True success is becoming the fullest, truest version of who God created you to be. When you step into that—when you live out the calling He placed on your life—you’re walking in real success, because you’re living in the fullness of who He designed you to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The beautiful thing about life is that you never know everything—you’re always a work in progress. The moment you think you’ve arrived is the moment you stop growing.

Challenges show up 24/7, but you have to learn to embrace them and face them head‑on. Problems will always come your way; the difference between people is how they respond. You can let them consume you, or you can overcome them. You can try to do it on your own, but like I’ve already said, the only way you truly overcome anything is through Jesus Christ.

The changes in my life—especially with my shows—have been significant. I started with a basketball‑only show when I was a junior in high school and ran that for quite a while. I still interview basketball players occasionally, but now I host a boxing show twice a week. I also run a Christian show where I dive deep into theological topics with pastors, theologians, and apologists. That show releases every Monday.

And starting in early 2026, I’m launching The Zach Schumaker Show—a culture show from a Christian perspective. I’ll be diving into everything happening in politics, culture, and religion, giving my take on it every Wednesday.

What separates me is simple: I don’t believe anyone will outwork me. Sometimes that shows, sometimes it doesn’t, but I know that as long as I follow God’s will, the work will be successful in His eyes—and that’s the only success I’m striving for. Every show takes a massive amount of time because I run everything myself. Every part of the process—pre‑production, the show itself, post‑production, and all the content creation—is done by me. And that’s true for every single show I produce.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Over the last six months, I’ve really gotten into hiking. The Valley has endless spots to explore, and one of my favorites is the Superstition Wilderness. There are so many incredible trails out there.

And if you’re with me on a weekend, we’re going to church. Sun Valley Community Church has been my home for three years now, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.

As for food—anyone who knows me knows I love to eat. But my food spots are pretty simple. I like affordable places that give you a big portion. If it doesn’t check those boxes, I’m not interested. Rudy’s, In‑N‑Out, and Angie’s are some of my go‑tos.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d be foolish to answer this with anything other than Jesus. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Him—literally and physically. Everything that has happened in my life is because of Him. When He saved my life on August 3, 2022, everything changed. So I’d be a fool not to give all the glory, credit, and praise to Jesus Christ.

Outside of that, my family has been incredibly supportive, and I’m grateful for all 925+ guests—and counting—that I’ve had the blessing of interviewing.

As far as mentors or close friends, I haven’t really had those in my life, and honestly, that’s another reason why I give all the glory to Jesus. I’m not saying it’s wise to go through life without a friend, a significant other, or a mentor, but when life puts you in certain situations, it forces you to cling to God even more.
