We asked members of the community how their organizations help the community. We’ve shared some of the responses below.

Rebecca Boutin | Allergy Friendly Bakery Owner at Bite Me Kupcakez

Our commitment to operating a Gluten-Free and Nut-Free kitchen, with additional focus on allergies such as dairy, eggs, and soy, holds significant importance for the community on multiple levels. The provision of a safe haven for individuals with food allergies, intolerances, or specific medical dietary restrictions is paramount. In recognizing the challenges faced by those navigating such dietary limitations, we have dedicated ourselves to creating an establishment that instills confidence and peace of mind. As a family personally impacted by Celiac disease and various food allergies, our mission is to establish an environment where patrons can confidently enjoy their meals without apprehension. Kelly Pullins | Business owner/Entrepeneur

The thought process behind starting Now and Then Thrift in Page was specifically designed for two reasons. 1. To cut back on the waste and negative impact the clothing industry has our environment, landfills etc. The average US consumer throws away 81.5lbs of clothes every year. In America alone, an estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste ends up in landfills. Veronica Barker-Barzel | Printmaker, painter, and traveler

My studio is open to the public in a rather high tourist area. If I bring a smile to a stranger from just looking at my work, I feel like I have accomplished my work for the day. I believe there is a power in healing through art. Most of my art is geared to all ages, not all of it, but most of it. With a sense of the mysterious, bringing out curiosity and thought. Why does that cat have a fish tail? Having a studio open to the general public is also a great way to teach, educate people on how and what goes into creating a relief print or a painting. Scott Charbonneau | Owner, Cookbook Author

We seek to help people in our community enjoy eating food that tastes great. Having raised 5 kids, we have seen how few people cook from scratch and use spices for additional health benefits. Our Spice Club specifically focuses on households of two and teaches people how to cook small meals that taste great and limit waste. For global impact, our cookbook, “A Father’s Hug from the Kitchen” (available on Amazon) is geared towards families and those cooking for gathering. Plus, all of our Amazon book royalties go directly to the Kenya Orphanage Project to build a school for the orphans. Read more>>
