Meet Ted Brandt | Girls Rugby Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ted Brandt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ted, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“W.I.N. What is next?” I don’t like to dwell on the past or beat myself up over mistakes. I try to instill this in my athletes after a tough match or tough loss. take the lesson, learn from it, then move and prepare for what is next.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got into coaching when my children were young. My girls were basically raised on the sidelines while I played so when they were old enough to start playing touch matches, I just kinda helped out. Next thing I knew I was looking forward to the kids and to practice. One thing lead to another and we won our first championship in u10. A few years later and we won u16 and u18. I found tremendous joy in all the girls I coach. many have been with me from that u0 team onward. Winning is nice, but having these kids come back season after season tells me the program is working.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d start in Cave Creek with a little adventure and some hiking, maybe finish in Tempe at The Peppermill. Cleator/Crown King/Prescott and Cottonwood would be on the list for sure. This time of year spring training is always a hit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to the Scottsdale Blues Rugby Club. My family for 27 years
