We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Mohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
An important factor to my success is attention to detail. If you consistently put effort into what you do, people will notice and begin to appreciate your hard work over time.

I also try to focus on what’s really important. Much of the sports media world has become driven on narratives and clickbait stories, especially as social media has risen. I’m not concerned solely about drawing engagement. As a basketball writer, my goal is to educate people about the game. The nuances aren’t for everyone, which is totally fine. But if I can help even one person learn something valuable, it’s worth it.

Creating a platform that encourages respectful discussion is important to me. It’s okay to disagree, and it’s okay to be wrong at times. Debates on social media can get toxic, especially in the sports world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A major thing that excites me about what I do is the ability to reach people all over the world. Basketball can connect anyone regardless of where they’re from or what language they speak. The fact that writing about basketball can help form relationships that otherwise wouldn’t be possible is incredible.

The biggest lesson i’ve learned is that you are never done learning, even when you think you are an expert in something. There is always room to grow.

I’d shoutout my girlfriend Devyn, for continuously supporting me and helping me get outside my comfort zone.
