We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Rich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Austin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew from a very early age I was driven to do something in music. After years of professional and personal development of my skillset, starting a business officially for my own brand was a step I saw as a requirement. I sought advice from established business owners regarding what it takes to get everything done legally as well as general helpful tips for running a business. I knew nothing at the time about having a business plan in place or what it would take starting out doing everything myself, but it wasn’t expensive or complicated to create so I was up and running in no time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been producing music and practicing audio engineering for over 10 years. I primarily offer mixing and mastering services but also offer recording for local artists as well as producer services and collaborations. From a young age I knew I was inclined towards music. At 10 I was gifted an electric guitar, and my musical passions grew through concerts and documentaries and albums and whatever media I could find on my favorite artists through the years. I attended The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Gilbert in 2012, and graduated after completing several internships in California. Since then, I’ve recorded mixed and mastered many singles, mixtapes and albums for local artists and artists in other locations. During my time at CRAS I began self-teaching myself electronic music production. I began making beats for rappers and spent many years producing and releasing beat tapes and selling beats to rappers and vocal artists. More recently, I’ve ventured into producing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and performing at live events for electronic music. I developed a passion for electronic music in high school and it has grown ever since. Some of my favorite artists and most memorable experiences were made through electronic music and its live events. It is very special it is being a part of something bigger like that, in a large crowd with music, I want to play music for people and make them feel something different. Music is a deeper way we can all communicate and feel together, and I think I have something special to offer in that area. I’ve released an EP and 3 singles and have more music on the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally I don’t go too many places, I just make music, ha! But I would say my favorite places to go are Zia and other record stores, small music shops, and music venues. Shady Park is a favorite that is finally coming back with live music again, which is really exciting. Darkstar, and Club Endgame are my favorite venues to see local talent and my favorite artists. Other than that I do enjoy visiting our state parks around the Superstion Mountains, as well as the Tonto, Sedona, and Katchina national parks up north further, Arizona has tons of great nature to see.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends and family first and foremost, my girlfriend and kids, all my musical collaborators and teachers, and of course the artists I take inspiration from.
