We had the good fortune of connecting with Avery Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Avery, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
For my business, two of my guiding principals are perseverance and passion. I think it is essential to set goals, persevere to reach those goals, not give up on yourself when it gets difficult, and to learn and grow from setbacks. Passion for my work and creativity is a prominent value in my life as well. It is important that you love what you are doing in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what sets me apart from other artists is my diversity, while some artists stick to one type of genre, I personally try to expand my portfolio and push my creativity with the types of photographs I take. My portfolio has a wide variety, including pets and animals, portraits, landscapes, macros, food, and even sports. I am always expanding my knowledge to learn new techniques from other photographers and to improve my skills as a photographer as well as an editor. My brand tries to capture the true essence of every subject, exemplifying their beauty. I think it is important to not over-edit my clients, while enhancing their features yet still keeping them looking like themselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to visit is the Heritage District in Downtown Gilbert! It is always my go to when friends and family visit from out of state. You can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants, but OHSO and Culinary Dropout are my frequent spots. It is fun just to walk around, get an ice cream at TOPO and people watch on a weekend night. It is also the subject of some of my favorite photographs!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to one of my teachers, Lindsay Wallace. She is the person who originally sparked my interest in photography, and has supported me throughout my journey. She was very influential in the decision to start my own business, and is still an important mentor in my life.
