Meet Barby Ingle | Nonprofit Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Barby Ingle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My creativity can be seen in the programs and projects I have created throughout my life. I was a physical creator for many years as a dancer and choreographer. In the past 20 years or so, I became more of a mental creator. I have created multiple successful books, and projects such as NERVEmber, and participated in numerous reality media programs and films.
I feel that I need to be creative because people look at things that are generally not seen together. For me, they create a bigger picture and show multiple tips, tools, and resources that can be used to better humanity and access timely and appropriate medical care. I am creative because I have a unique brand using myself, my life journey, and how I approach making a difference.
I’ve spent a lot of time developing my brand and working on my website, www.barbyingle.com, to make sure it represents exactly who I am as an artist and woman. The website reflects me and what I’m trying to accomplish with my art, talent, and gifts.
What makes me most creative is that I have a lot of experiences that have shaped me as a person. I have been to many places and done many activities, which gives me a lot of inspiration for my work. Creativity is also about having an open mind and being willing to try new things. This keeps my imagination fresh and exciting!
My creativity helps me reflect my personality—it’s quirky, fun, and serious when needed. I think this is an essential part of creativity: finding a balance between being lighthearted and silly while still being able to convey important messages.
I’ve learned that you should do it wholeheartedly if you take a risk. You should be prepared to fail, but also be ready to make something great. I’ve also learned that if you’re not willing to work and make sacrifices, you won’t ever get anywhere in life. I remind myself that it is essential to challenge myself, even if I fail constantly, and must get back up repeatedly. There are no shortcuts—you must work hard and keep trying until you get it right.
I think that the most important lesson I’ve learned is to always be kind, even when it’s tough. I put importance on making sure that my family and friends know how much they matter to me through my actions. I feel like my life is full of people who love me and care about me because of how kind I am towards them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whether you’re an early riser or a late sleeper, there are plenty of great options for breakfast and coffee in Phoenix., AZ. Breakfast is always my favorite meal, even when I am having it for dinner. And so many times it is better for our creative side to go have coffee with a coworker or friend. Here are a few places I love.
1. Matt’s Big Breakfast – Known for its hearty breakfast plates, Matt’s Big Breakfast has become a staple in Phoenix. Try their famous pancakes or opt for the breakfast sandwich.
2. The Henry – A modern and stylish spot for breakfast, The Henry has something for everyone. Their menu features classic dishes like avocado toast and pancakes and unique items like green chili pork benedict.
3. Cartel Coffee Lab – For a quality cup of coffee, head to Cartel Coffee Lab. They take their coffee seriously and source their beans from small farmers worldwide. Could you pair your coffee with a pastry or breakfast sandwich? I would!
4. Lux Central – Another popular spot for coffee and breakfast, Lux Central has a diverse menu with vegan and gluten-free options. Make sure to check out their signature sweet potato hash.
5. Ollie Vaughn’s – This quaint bakery serves freshly baked pastries, bread, and breakfast sandwiches. Enjoy your breakfast on their outdoor patio and soak in the Arizona sun for that dose of Vitamin D.
No matter where you choose for breakfast and coffee, you will find a welcoming and delicious experience in Phoenix.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my book, From Wheels to Heals. This is about my journey with rare and chronic diseases and how I learned to be an advocate for myself and others. I would also like to shoutout Dr. Jay Joshi, who just published his first book The Burden of Pain. His book features his journey as a provider trying to assist people with chronic and rare diseases from that perspective.
