We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Shawna Eischens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Shawna, how does your business help the community?

Health is wealth! When we feel well, we function well, which allows us to be the best version of ourselves for our benefit and everyone around us. When our cup is full (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually), we are able to pour into others with love, time, energy, and support. Hope and Healing Naturopathic helps patients who have been struggling to find the answers they deserve to overcome their health challenges and feel better than they have in years. As patients heal from the inside out, they notice they have more energy, joy, confidence, and healthier boundaries, in addition to eliminating their stubborn symptoms that have been holding them back.

We find out WHY the body has manifested specific symptoms and teach people HOW to balance and heal. We work WITH the body and mind to heal and teach patients how to maintain health, vs. relying on supplements or medications.
Whether we’re able to help a busy Mom have more energy, patience, and a healthy menstrual cycle, or help a Type A professional overcome their anxiety and depression so they can maintain a healthy career and relationships, it’s an honor to be a part of this positive momentum in our community and world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I have learned to never say never. Naturopathic medicine found me, and I couldn’t deny that it was my calling and purpose even though I had no plans to go back to school in my 30’s, much less medical school for 4 years. For many years, I was content treating patients in another clinic, until once again I was nudged and called to open my own practice in March 2022.

I live what I preach, therefore, I prioritize my health, especially mental/emotional health. It has been an ongoing process of overcoming self-limiting beliefs, resolving past trauma and unprocessed emotion, and realizing that I am worthy and lovable as I am, AND deserving of all of the wonderful things that life has to offer, even through my imperfections!

My story and life would be so different and much less fulfilling had I not done the work on myself and my mindset. Let’s be real, “the work” is never done; it just seems to get lighter, easier, and less overwhelming. My own healing journey has played a major role in my ability to have the utmost empathy and compassion for my patients who are struggling with low self-worth, anxiety, or perfectionistic tendencies. My healing toolbox includes some of the modalities that helped change my life, including homeopathic medicine, and techniques that balance the subconscious mind and nervous system including NET/Neuro Emotional Technique and QNRT/Quantum Neuro Reset Therapy.

Hope and Healing Naturopathic is different from conventional, functional, and even other naturopathic medicine offices as we trust the mind and body to lead us as we listen and love from within, and allow it to show off its own ability to heal vs. suppressing symptoms with supplements or medications.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend has visited many times and every trip is different so I guess it would depend on the goals of the trip. When we were younger and spunkier, Cave Creek was a must to watch some bull riding, do some dancing, and explore the Wild West just a few miles North. Now trips typically include something restorative and relaxing like a stay at Civana in Carefree, which is my happy, healing place. Or we may do a day trip to Sedona or Flagstaff for some time in nature enjoying cooler temps and delicious food.
We love time on water either kayaking salt river or paddle boarding at Canyon Lake, as we’re from MN, the land of 10,000 + lakes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It takes a village and I’m so thankful for mine. To the wise elder physicians involved with Naturopathic Medicine Institute, thank you for igniting and fueling my passion that allows me to help patients show off their body’s incredible self-healing abilities. After more than a decade of seeing miracles, I am still in awe of the mind and body’s ability to heal when given the proper conditions to do so.
