We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramon Gallego and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ramon , what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that risk can lead someone to something that has been unexpected or something that has been highly anticipated. Risk taking plays a huge role in self investment and I believe more people should understand that. One has to take risks in order to prosper throughout life and the path they choose to pursue. If I would not have taken risks in my career, I would not be where I am today. Something good can always come out of a risk even if it was not what the individual hoped for. As humans we learn from mistakes and experiences. As a model there are huge risks taken everyday. However, at the end of the day this is the path I chose to pursue while also working and going to school. If I want to move forward and do bigger things in the creative industry I have to be willing to take risks.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a young man there was a need to fulfill my infatuation with being in front of a camera. So to satisfy the need of my childhood dreams was to become a model. In doing so, I have created a platform for me to share my dreams with the rest of the world. Through my interest with the art and creativity of photography, it has afforded me the opportunity to become a model. I have researched and studied all aspects of photography that will enhance my knowledge and identify those details that assist me to become the ultimate model. Social media has changed the dynamics of how the population of the world communicates. One must be decisive when posting information on instagram, snapchat, etc. In saying so, my experience with photography has prepared me to select only those photos that will afford the viewer the WOW factor. Self confidence is the epitome of modeling. The fear factor that one may be criticized by the public or peers for their reasons should not be taken personally. The appearance of a person, their fashion is the make up of their self confidence and esteem, It is the feel good factor. It is the positive energy that is radiated from me as a person that says, look at me, I feel great about myself. Most proud about being able to be myself and amazing feedback from agencies and management companies. My proudest moments in my endeavor as a model was to work with the modeling and scene acting professional. Their positive feedback energized me to become a better person and a professional in my art. Currently, there are two obstacles that have created a hardship getting selected for modeling jobs. Unfortunately, my stature in height is an obstacle to overcome , employers are seeking a person of a certain height and age. The age concern will eventually be overcome in the near future. The initial contact with the audience is a challenge for me. However, the anticipation of failure quickly disappears after my first walk down the runway. The applause that I received after the first walk gave me confidence. Since, then the acknowledgment of this challenge gave me the need to overcome this problem.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Arizona is a wonderful state and there are many things to do here. To begin, I would like to get out of the city. I feel like theres many places outside of the city that are very nice. For example, The Grand Canyon, Bearizona, and Out of Africa Wildlife Park. After, I would like to show them around Downtown Phoenix. There is a lot of nice art in the Roosevelt Art District. Also, downtown has many museums as well as places to take pictures.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people I would like to thank for making all of this possible. First I would like to give a shoutout to my family and friends! If you’re reading this thank you all for your constant love and support. I am beyond grateful for this support system. I would also like to thank everyone I have come across in the creative industry. From the very beginning with my very first production company “Preview Models” all the way to today with all of my current model friends and my agency “The Young Agency”. Last but not least, thank you to Voyage Phoenix Magazine for this amazing opportunity!
