Meet Matthew Paul | Laser engraver

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Definitely word of mouth and the pushing my business from my friends. And doing a great job for my customers and meeting their needs so that they are happy to use me again or have no doubts about referring me to someone.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel what sets me apart from others is my ability to adapt to to my customers needs. Being able to bring their vision to life weather it’s jewelry, or a memorial piece and working closely with them through the whole process. I am proud of what I’ve learned from my peers or through my own research. when I started this journey I knew absolutely nothing, I feel every day I’m still learning but I’m so much farther now than I was when I started. Getting where I am now was not easy especially with covid right In the middle of all this, personalized items were not an expense people could afford. As well as supply chain issues and shipping issues. And being a fulltime single father with a special needs litte girl presents challenges as well. But telling myself it’s all for her has kept me pushing and motivated during the hardest times. The most important thing I have learned is to listen to my customer ..but not just hear them but actively listen, if it’s a complaint or a kudos or a suggestion be sure to listen, respond and react. If I wanted the world to know anything it’s support small businesses these people are your friends and neighbors, for some people this is how they make ends meet. Not only will you be supporting your friends and peers but you are getting a personalized quality product made with heart .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely places to eat would be High Tide at the steel yard. Rock lobster in downtown Ocotillo. Those are a must grab some coffee at pixetto in downtown chandler I’m a huge aviation buff so Definitely would go to the air museum in mesa. Maybe some comedy at one of the local clubs
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely a gentleman Named Hector Ortega a local artist, fellow engraver and Silversmith. He is always happy to answer any questions and help me along the way, he has given me pointers, programs, and files and has walked me through some of my most difficult and aggervating times. and another friend over seas named Zihan Zhang who has done the same thing just all around good people and mentors. And of course most of all my family my sister Michelle who has always helped me with the paperwork aspect and keeping me in line and organized. My Niece Maia who helps me with my shipping and organizing in the shop, and my baby girl Kenslee who above all is my biggest fan and cheerleader!
