We had the good fortune of connecting with Hector Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hector, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When it comes to those tough times when it seems like it would be easier to quit. That’s usually the signal or the test of perseverance of commitment of your craft, it’s where the most gains are made most aren’t tangible but in the grand scheme the tangible things rarely matter.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art focuses on metals from large scale sculpture to the manufacturing of tools for other artist. What sets me apart from others is I do what the others don’t and won’t it’s what has gotten me to where I am skills wise and how o carry myself from day to day. It’s hasn’t been the easiest road but that because I have chooses to lead a life with intent over cut and dry business practices. If there was anything that I would like the world to know it would be that every thing I do comes from the heart and that they are purchasing part of my life and time on this earth.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sedona, hiking local mountains, salt river bed.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
