We had the good fortune of connecting with Tori Hauser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tori, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The inspiration for my business emerged from a challenge I faced when my son began playing little league baseball. Many might not be familiar with the backpacks these little players use to carry their baseball equipment, but they come with side pockets to slot their bats into. While this design is handy, the bat handles protrude 1-2 feet out above the bag. This can lead to inconvenient mishaps (such as scratching my new car) when loading or unloading the backpack in vehicles before and after each game or practice.

I took to the internet in search of a solution hoping to find a product that could cover the end of the bat and protect my car. To my surprise, I couldn’t find anything that catered to this specific need. It was then that I had a light bulb moment – why not create a solution myself?

And so, my business journey began – with a blend of determination, creativity, and a willingness to venture into the unknown, I set out to design a practical and effective solution for this common baseball and softball parent problem.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background is in graphic design, in the marketing and advertising world. I’ve worked with large global companies, but also many smaller local companies. I’m now at a large consulting company and it was not necessarily easy to get here. As a designer, you need to have thick skin when it comes to your work, because everyone will have an opinion, that along with long hours and little appreciation for the work we do, can make it a tough career. But I’ve always felt that I do good work and that it’s worth it for me to keep going.

I’ve spent a lot of my career helping other people successfully brand and market their products and ideas, so I think I have the skills and background knowledge to create success in my own company.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d probably start down the street at one of our local favorite restaurants in South Tempe, Ghost Ranch. Then because we are big mountain bikers, we’d head out to the Hawes Trail System, which has been being built specifically for mountain biking. Gets some miles in there, then maybe head to downtown Phoenix to check out a show at The Van Buren.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My son Liam has been super into the business. He loves talking to people about the products, making videos for our social accounts, he’s kind of turned into our spokesperson! I love that he loves being involved!
