Meet Mike Gutormson | Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Gutormson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I never set out to be a carpet cleaner, ironically I have owned several carpet/upholstery cleaning units over the years, clean carpets was just something I was passionate about, whether in my home or vehicles they were always clean. I have allergies, the dust and pollens would make me sneeze, relief came from clean carpets, maybe that’s the connection.

It wasn’t until I saw an Opportunity with Heaven’s Best when it all came together, it was time to pursue my passion.
The business model was perfect for what I was looking for, I didn’t want a brick and mortar business where I had to open doors daily and man a counter
I wanted flexibility, a challenge and the opportunity to grow! I have always been in some sort of occupation where I provided customer service. Helping others is what it is all about and providing the best possible service, it will never do me wrong.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heavens Best in Mesa is part of a 40 year franchise company with a unique dry in one hour carpet cleaning process. Prior to investing in my company I met with another franchise owner to see the carpet cleaning process and how it worked I was truly impressed by the process, a solution that’s safe for kids, pets and the environment, smells fantastic and works amazing to clean carpets.

Making the decision to move forward with being a business owner simply put the ball in motion and was just the beginning. Being a sole owner/operator is very challenging. My to do list always runs into the next day, challenges are simply adventures that make you grow. One of the big lessons I learned after my first summer in business was never quit marketing yourself. Business was good, I was busy and marketing simply fell of the radar. It hit me like a brick one day as my schedule was empty with no work appointments, so I found new ways to market myself and a lesson I’ll never forget.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tubing down the Salt River would be the beginning of a perfect week. Goldfield Mine is always a fun day with the lake just around the corner and lots of desert trails, catch a ride in a razor and enjoy the thrill, the desert is absolutely beautiful
Indoor go karts and a night out at JP Comedy Club are some of the fun spots and don’t forget a round of golf or even Wild Horse for an evening of drag racing
