We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Skaar and Erin Dodd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharon, Erin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting a new business is hard!! Starting a new business during a pandemic is insane!! The only reason it makes sense to start a new business in a saturated market segment like anti-aging skincare is if you’re going to do something that’s completely different than the others. It has to be a game-changer. A brand that’s effective, simply to use and doesn’t cost a fortune!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’re retired businesswomen and great friends. Both passionate about health, and taking care of ourselves, especially when it comes to skincare. We were tired of the status quo and products that didn’t deliver results that were promised. While some brands did work, there were too many steps to follow and very costly to maintain. We wanted to do something completely different, The only reason it makes sense to. create a new skincare brand is if you are going to do something totally different. With TreCeuticals, we did just that! We took the three scientifically proven, medical grade anti-aging ingredients; hydroxy acids, retinol and antioxidants, formulated them at high enough levels to actually work , combined them with the soothing, and calming benefits of full spectrum CBD AND deliver the products direct to your door! It’s a total game changer! We launched TreCeuticals in May, 2020. Right in the middle of the pandemic! . We knew launching a company would be hard, but we never dreamed we would do it in the middle of one of the most severe health and economic events in our history. The world has changed as a result of Covid-19. Our ability to adapt, change, react and think outside the box was challenged every step of the way. The supply chain has been fractured and changed. In ways we never anticipated. While all of these things impacted us from the start, it’s also brought us back to our core values of family, faith, friends, authenticity and community focused. All of the things that we value most are what we turned to in the midst of the crisis. We’ve been so inspired but the selflessness of others. We’ve all been changed in some way or another. We’re stronger as partners and friends as a result of the challenges we continue to face as we move forward. We are learning so much and continue to seek like minded people to grow with us. Part of our vision for TreCeuticals was always to create a Brand Advocate program to incentivize people to share our story with their family and friends. This has become even more important as people struggle to make ends meet in the wake of the pandemic. It’s just one of the ways we plan to give back to the community. Another is partnering with a non-profit to donate a portion of our sales to help them meet their needs. Honesty, integrity and transparency are all things we value in brands we support and are what guide us in every aspect of our business. Our products are proudly Leaping Bunny certified (no animal testing/cruelty ever!), vegan, gluten free and naturally derived.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Actually the first thing we would do is park them on a barstool at the kitchen counter! There is no place we’d rather be and no better way to reconnect than over good food and good wine in a totally casual atmosphere. The conversation always picks up right where it left off. A round of golf is always in order in AZ! So many beautiful courses here to choose from! Next, a trip to Old Town Scottsdale for a fun day of shopping the galleries and boutiques. Drinks and dinner at Ocean 44 and AZ88 are a must! Then a little music and dancing at Handlebar J’s! If we’re in need of a cultural fix…three of our favorite places in the area are the MIM, the Arizona Science Center. and The Mesa Arts Center, We’re so fortunate to have wonderful weather most of the year so an afternoon on a pontoon boat at Saguaro or Canyon Lake are perfect! Rounding out the week would be a road trip to Prescott, Jerome and Sedona!! Arizona is one of the most beautiful states in the country! The views are breathtaking along the ride and there is always something fun to see and do! We would round out the week around the fire pit enjoying a spectacular Arizona sunset.and planning our next adventure!

Our husbands have encouraged, advised, and inspired us every step of the way along this journey. Without their tireless support, our vision would not have become a reality. Along with Chris and Cliff, our friends and family have truly kept us focused on what’’s important in life,…sisterhood, community, sharing, authenticity and transparency in everything we do.
